Not necessarily, same response as above.
Nobody is imposing a government mandate so your slippery slope fails. People are asking for their mistreatment to cease and that Walmart comply with the very policies they have. That's not unreasonable.

That's definitely not all people are asking for. They're asking for a federal minimum wage hike and for living wages and for retail and food service jobs to pay like careers, and so on and so forth. Look around this forum and the media and the web. The clamoring for statutory wage and benefit mandates is as deafening as ever.

    Separate issues.

Everyone has those options. They might not be easy options but they are still options.

    Edit:

Though... For the record, it should be noted that Walmart was actually one of the better retailers I ever worked for.

I started off at almost $10.00 an hour, I got a full hour for lunch (if I wanted it), we all got stock benefits, employees were allowed to clock in either 15 minutes early or late without having it be a mark against them, and we couldn't work off the clock without risk of disciplinary action for both ourselves and any manager found responsible.

    TotalWine? Yea... Not so much.
    You work for TotalWine?

If someone was hired with the GUARANTEE that they wouldn't work holidays, you might have a point. But I am fairly confident that this sort of arrangement was not done in the interview.

Are you showing the same concern for the fire department, police department, and other people that HAVE to work holidays or are you ONLY interested in RETAIL?
I agree with this exactly. No one is forcing the people to work at Walmart. Black Friday is an important day for retail stores.
If you don't like working holidays, then find a new job! What about the doctors, the police force, and the fire department?
Someone needs to work on these days.

However, if you're still following this ridiculous argument: The government has a right (as per the constitution) to tax you. If you don't like it? Leave.
And anywhere that Walmart is in violation of the law, they can and should be prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law. Expecting an employee to be working on a holiday is not illegal.

Police officers and firefighters get substantial pay bonuses for holiday work, overtime etc.

So do retail workers, by and large.
