Maybe that rabble-rouser, Al Sharpton should spend more time paying his damn taxes and less time causing more trouble around the United States...taxes that are being DENIED TO THE "POOR" because Al refuses to pay up. This according to the New York Times.

Mr. Sharpton has regularly sidestepped the sorts of obligations most people see as inevitable, like taxes, rent and other bills. Records reviewed by The New York Times show more than $4.5 million in current state and federal tax liens against him and his for-profit businesses.

And though he said in recent interviews that he was paying both down, his balance with the state, at least, has actually grown in recent years. His National Action Network appears to have been sustained for years by not paying federal payroll taxes on its employees.

With the tax liability outstanding, Mr. Sharpton traveled first class and collected a sizable salary, the kind of practice by nonprofit groups that the United States Treasury’s inspector general for tax administration recently characterized as “abusive,” or “potentially criminal” if the failure to turn over or collect taxes is willful.

Mr. Sharpton and the National Action Network have repeatedly failed to pay travel agencies, hotels and landlords. He has leaned on the generosity of friends and sometimes even the organization, intermingling its finances with his own to cover his daughters’ private school tuition.

Or better still...go to PRISON for income tax evasion like we "crackers" do.

And yet the right wing screams soo much about the "race card"...

The victim card is strong in Hogwash... you can't blame him though. He's so far removed from black culture, all he knows how to do is complain that things happen to white people but they don't happen to black people...

Lauryn Hill began serving a three-month prison sentence in Connecticut yesterday for failing to pay over $1 million in taxes over the past decade, reports the Associated Press. The Grammy-winning singer is serving her time in a minimum security prison with dorm-style living arrangements and will be expected to work jobs such as maintenance, landscaping and food service.

Beanie Sigel Released From Jail Following Two Years for Tax Evasion, Narcotics | Billboard

Rapper Beanie Sigel was released from jail Thursday following a two-year federal sentence for tax evasion on more than $700,000 over six years and a congruently served sentence on narcotics possession charges.

Ron Isley, Ja Rule, Chuck Berry etc. are all examples of rich black people who served prison sentences just like the "crackers" Hogwash is referencing. I suspect that the reason Hogwash makes such outlandish claims about what happens to "crackers" and doesn't happen to black people is that he doesn't actually know any black people to begin with.

The irony of someone busting out the victim card while complaining about Sharpton is too much.

he adamantly supports a tax increase on the wealthy, yet won't pay his "fair share"?....imagine that.

it would be funny to see him go to prison , but he has too many friends in the establishment for that to happen

I agree. It's patently laughable that he thinks white people go to jail for some crimes and black people don't. It would be contrary to every single statistics out there.

so there's not going to be any commenting/debating on the actual topic?

figures.

What is there to debate other than ~"crackers go to jail and blacks don't"? I think that's been thoroughly destroyed. We've explored the humor of playing the victim card while complaining about Sharpton. What else ya got?

well i guess hijacking a discussion to focus on race baiting is quite fitting for a thread on the guy who does exactly that for a living... so i'll bow out

Hijacking? Did you not read the OP? Check the last sentence.

Hijacking the conversation requires that a new topic be introduced. Did we introduce race as a condition for prison time?

good thing he takes up the liberal position on things.

If he dare speak out on an issue that conservatives would agree with, he would be getting the Bill Cosby treatment in no time

I think he was referring to all the preceding sentences that make up the substance of the OP.
But with regard to that there really isn't much to say. That Sharpton is a liberal hypocrite who doesn't pay his 'fair share' doesn't come as a surprise to me.

Another politician does not pay his taxes? I need to lie down.

We're to debate with the author of a non-controversial article who's not here? Are we to argue that Sharpton's situation is fine?

Sorry, but the only thing to debate was the race baiting BS victim card presented in the OP. If you don't like that, perhaps you could advise him to not spew such crap.

That old fart Sharpton isn't a politician. He's a professional rabble-rouser who doesn't pay his taxes, doesn't pay his rent, doesn't pay his hotel expenses or doesn't pay anything, anywhere, anytime to anybody.

And that $4.75 million taxes he hasn't paid surely would pay for a lot of welfare for his poor mistreated black hero worshipers.

Wesley Snipes? If prison is good enough for Wesley it's damn sure good enough for that PoS Sharpton.

I see you have been following the Reverend and know about him. You have him pretty well pegged.

This, however, is ludicrous:

Or better still...go to PRISON for income tax evasion like we "crackers" do.

Why aren't you mentioning Richard Hatch going to prison for tax evasion? Why are you bringing up Wesley Snipes as if it's good that he went to prison? Is it good to you because Wesley Snipes is black?

Ah Tax Evasion, the thing that rips apart criminal empires built upon hate!!! Hey, if it worked for Al Capone....

Sharpton should pay his taxes just like every other responsible citizen. He is, after all, benefiting from all the public works that are paid by those taxes, and he needs to own up to his fair share, just like all the rest of us. No exceptions.

It seems like just about every rich person has skeletons like this in their closets. They all cheat in order to get where they are.

I agree, the rich should be made to pay their fair share like the rest of us. Ain't it great when ideologies agree?

... What an interesting position to take. Do you believe multiple women have been filling out police reports and claiming he assaulted them for decades because of political views he expressed 8-9 years ago at best?

Al Sharpton makes a living misrepresenting the events around him for his own ideological and financial gain, he is most certainly a politician even though he may not hold a politician's seat.

The simple fact of the matter is the best of intentions behind and all of the respect for the civil rights movement of yesterday have become perverted, self serving, money making, and political power schemes today under people like Sharpton. He represents the worst of ideology and stands for a flavor of racism that will end up in the history books.

An activists job is to bring truth where lies are being told, not the other way around to inflame on tap.

He does not "tell it like it is," he tells it the way he needs it to be for his own interests at the expense of others. An attitude that seems to land in so many aspects of his life. Including tax evasion.
