President Obama to announce executive action on immigration Thursday

I get your point here that it doesn't have to happen right away and I don't disagree with that, but as far as I can see, it has been a year and a half since the senate bill was approved and went to the house for a vote. Boehner said they wouldn't vote on it, instead they would come up with their own bill. Where is that bill?

The House has passed bills in regards to what it felt needed to be done in terms of immigration, with their stance being you must secure first before you can actually reform things. Do you know what happened to that bill? The same thing that happened to the Senate bill...the other part of congress refused to take it up. You can't just point fingers and blame one side on this. As I said, the action of passing bills on an issue that the other side of congress has expressed no interest in attempting to work with has been going on with BOTH sides.

House passes border bill

Is that the TYPE of reform Barack Obama wanted? No. But he's not a king, he's not an emperor, he's not a dictator. Simply becasue he deems that a certain type of reform needs to happen doesn't mean it must happen or that it does actually "need" to happen. It's wrong and factually incorrect to point to the House and suggest they just refuse to do anything regarding this issue. That's plainly not true. What they refuse to do is to address it in the fashion that the Democratic Senate and Obama wanted, which was a "Comprehensive" method that didn't prioritize Border Security first and foremost.

Which all goes back to my prior point. He had 2 years with a fully democratic congress...and nothing was done. He's had 4 years to try and strike a compromise, and nothing was done. Now suddenly less than two months before we're actually likely to have a congerss in power that actually will do what they've been unable to do for the past 6 years, pass an actual immigration related piece of legislation, and suddenly we must act immedietely via executive action?

Lets be frank, this has nothing to do with the House refusing to deal with immigration issues (because such a suggestion is an outright lie). Rather it has everything to do with the fact that the House and Senate, in two months, likely will finally be able to do a deal on immigration issues, and it's not going to be the type of deal Obama is going to like. And since he's backed himself into a corner basically saying "send me anything on immigration and I'll sign it" he's needing to do whatever he can to get as much of what he wants as possible, even if it ends up being questionable in it's legitimacy, because he understands once you bestow certain status's upon people in this country it becomes a matter of the courts to revoke it and it's extremely difficult to do so.

The republicans in the house have attempted to address immigration issues, they've simply went about it in a way that contradicts with Obama. Addressing something in a way that Obama doesn't agree with doesn't magically mean it doens't exist or that it isn't happening. Obama does not get to set reality and dictate what is true and what isn't. There's absolutely zero legitimate reason that this MUST happen now, and claiming that it's because the Republicans refused to do anything is just undeniably false. At best you can say it's becuase the Republicans refused to do what Obama wanted to do about it. That's not justification to install executive orders that are imcompatible with the expressed and implied will of the congress.

As I see it, the Senate passed an immigration reform bill, but Boehner has stated that he will never bring the bill to a vote in the House. He said, instead, that the house would craft their own bill. I can't seem to find that bill. And this is over a year later. If Boehner won't act, I have no problem with the President using his authority to get immigration reform done.

You want a King or Queen, move to England. You're okay with Obama taking power and authority he does not have.

Perhaps House Republicans could try passing their own immigration reform bill? Why not work for better immigration reform and not against a President?

Because it's not a priority. There are a whole lot of more pressing matters they could be doing. Because it's a desperate tactic by an unpopular president who isn't competent enough to do his job. They didn't declare this war, that's all on Obama.

All of that is false, but the bolded is the biggest whopper. 57% are from Mexico alone, add in another 24% from countries south of that coming through Mexico. And don't try to wiggle out by saying a lot of them are overstayers, the vast majority of those are from south of our border as well.

If you're only counting brown people, sure.

Repubs have no intention of working on immigration reform.
And you know why--there is no consensus in the GOP for saying yes to something/anything on IR.
Just saying no and being obstructionists .

Hah! you know that obstructionist meme got broken, right? Folks outside the echo chamber aren't buying it anymore. The only work that needs to be done on immigration reform right now is in enforcing existing law.

Repubs wouldn't dare put the Dream Act up for a vote in the impotent House.
They know it would pass.

DEMs better get better at the messaging game and damned quick.
It's all the GOP has on us right now .

No, the Dream Act will not pass the house. Voters have already told their reps what they think of that one. All the dems had was party propo and no one is buying that drak anymore.

So Thursday is when he plans on breaking the law, huh?

Harry Reid is telling BO to go Big. Big Time.....whats Ole Harry tryin to set BO up? As we know Harry isn't going to take the weight.

Even though he should for holding back the Security Portion of the Senate Bill to the House.

If you're only counting brown people, sure.

You're entirely wrong. In fact I was using figures from 2006, here are more recent figures:

Present-day countries of origin[edit]

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the countries of origin for the largest numbers of illegal immigrants are as follows (latest of 2009):[10]

Obama is happy whenever America becomes less White, less Christian and less Constitutional.

I wonder if he and Holder will be joining Al and Jesse and other Black supremacists in their ethnic cleansing campaign in Ferguson?

This is going to deeply damage the black community. What opportunities exist will dry up further.

In fact, this hurts literally everybody. Republicans and Democrats, whites, blacks, Hispanics, young, old, college grads, non-college grads, etc, etc.

It is literally good for nobody in America except for the illegals themselves. It dilutes everything for everybody, and it invites waves more.

And for what? A step toward one day winning elections?

It's as if Obama detests this country so much, he'll do anything to destroy it from within.

Why the rush? Who is it that feels such a need to get this done as soon as possible?

Heya Erod. :2wave: It appears many Latinos are not for BO's Amnesty themselves.

Poll: Many Latinos Disapprove of Obama's Executive Amnesty

A new NBC poll shows Latinos do not overwhelmingly support President Obama's decision to thwart Congress on amnesty through executive action.

Nearly half of Americans disapprove of President Barack Obama’s expected plan to take executive action that would potentially allow millions of undocumented immigrants to stay legally in the United States, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Latinos are divided, with 43 percent supporting the action and 37 percent opposing it. But the sample size here is small (just 110 Latino respondents), so the numbers have a high margin of error.

There's just a six percent difference in Latinos who do and do not support the President's plan to rewrite immigration law with an executive order. Notice how NBC was sure to add a note questioning the numbers due to a small sample size, ignoring that the margin of error could also result in more Latinos being against executive amnesty......snip~

You wouldn't think a Hispanic American would want to legalize these people any more than anyone else.

But you see the rallies, and you wonder. Do they think this will help them in some way? No, it dilutes the pool for them as it does everyone else.

To me, it's becoming more and more obvious that Obama's primary goal is to screw up and change this country as much as possible with the time he has.

He grew up all over the world. He's not American like most Americans are. He wants to knock America off its pedestal and make it equal to the rest of the world, not better than.

Says it Right here.

Despite what the media would have us believe, immigration reform is often at the bottom of the priority list for Latino voters and a majority want enforcement before a comprehensive overhaul.

By a margin of 56 percent to 40 percent, Hispanic voters oppose allowing illegal immigrants to obtain federal benefits, including Obamacare benefits, “while they are going through the legalization process and before the 90% goal is reached.” When asked to choose which of four issues — the economy, immigration reform, education, or health care — is most important to them, registered Hispanic voters said immigration reform was their lowest priority. Just 31 percent ranked the issue first or second, compared with 62 percent for the economy, 57 percent for health care, and 45 percent for education. Non-registered voters, on the other hand, ranked immigration reform as their highest priority. Generally speaking, registered Hispanic voters were far more likely to support tougher security and enforcement measures than non-registered voters. For example, 64 percent of registered voters said they supported employment verification to determine if job applicants are lawful residents, compared with just 46 percent of non-registered voters. Additionally, 55 percent of registered voters backed increased border-security measures (fencing, drones, police, etc.), compared with 45 percent of non-registered voters.....snip~

Then there is this poll for the country.

Americans Oppose Obama's Executive Amnesty By 10 Points.....

Almost half of Americans, 48 percent, disapprove of President Obama's decision to grant executive amnesty to an unknown number of illegal immigrants, according to a new NBC News poll, while just 38 percent support the idea.

All more proof in my mind that Obama wants to disembowel this country from within. American citizens don't want this, so why does he?

Because he is counting on the Latinos to vote for the Demo in 2016. For future political aspirations of his party.

That (bolded above) assertion is not correct. It helps those that employ them. Obama proposes to make 30% to 50% of "illegal" labor legal. What could possibly be better to help keep wages low (and profits high) than to expand the pool of qualified candidates for McJobs?

True, but as they gain more and more access as "out in the open" workers, the economics of hiring them will change.

Not really because a newly legal worker now getting a raise to the prevailing (minimum?) McWage does not add any costs for those employers now offering that wage and the other half (or more) of illegal labor will still be forced to keep the same job opportunities as they now "enjoy".

But the point remains....who is clamoring for this? Why does this require an executive order? What is the crisis it solves? Who is for it?

This is the act of a man unconcerned about what's best for America or what Americans want from their president. This smells like the whim of a king or dictator.

Perhaps it is not so much the act itself that is so important to Obama, but the reaction that it will surely solicit from the republicants. So long as the republicants are kept focused on reacting to Obama, hopefully over-reacting, then the less likely they are to accomplish much of anything else. The best Obama can hope for with a republcant controlled batch of congress critters is to side track them and to try to force them to do truely stupid things.

Like I said before, the MSM will downplay Obama's actions and instead concentrate on making the republicants reactions seem as extreme as possible. So long as the republicants can be kept being painted as the party of no then the better it is for the demorats in 2016. The worst thing possible is for Obama is to let the republicants actually get their act together and present biils that are popular and then have Obama be forced to veto them. By keeping the republicants hopping mad and reacting to Obama's agenda they will have no time to focus on anything else.

In other words, Obama openly and willfully plans to damage and weaken America again, and he couldn't care less.

You can literally feel his hatred for this country. It's palpable.
