Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense' [W:406]

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

If the extreme right-wing wants to energize the democratic base, let them impeach Obama.

They are much smarter than that. This is FOXNews. Not the GOP. We can expect this from FOXnews.

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

Do you think the GOP and GOP sheeple would really rather have Joe Biden as President?

Biden can't make things much worse, but it is possible that Biden could make things better. He could become "likable Joe " whom more Americans trust than Obama. Honestly, it wouldn't be difficult for Biden to be someone more Americans trust than any of the probable candidates in the GOP stable. Biden could, IMHO, be someone people would trust a lot more than Hillary. Given a bit of luck, as a President running for re-election Biden might have some advantages over Hillary.

There really isn't a "GOP". You have many factions and those factions do not often get along with each other. Even the Tea Party within the GOP is not really a group of people with a unified voice. Most of the GOP doesn't like the Tea Party. Krauthammer is a Neoconservative. He is not the voice of the GOP but rather a voice from within a very mixed herd.

I cannot imagine establishment GOP leaders wanting to wade through the public spectacle of an impeach hearing. It would be a huge gamble and the party could lose big. Fortunately not all leaders in the GOP are neocons.

I saw Trey Gowdy interviewed on Fox last night. Can't remember whose show it was. When the question "Will you impeach Obama" came up, he said "No. Joe Biden." When asked what that meant, he said "Nobody wants Biden to be President".

I know I sure don't.

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

Not that we could credit those such as yourselves being able to do the same.

Wouldn't really know until I wrote a history book. I think you'd be pretty surprised. Hell, I think I'd be surprised! :2razz:

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

I think that is what Krauthammer proffered.

exerpt from O'Reilly's show.

When O’Reilly raised impeachment as a response to Obama’s order for amnesty, Krauthammer said that would be the wrong move.

“This is time for Republicans to be very disciplined. They won the election because they were disciplined. They stayed on message. They made it a referendum on Obama,” he said.

“And they won,” he said. “What they have to do now is to go from being the party of no to the party with an agenda.”

He said a goal is to pass bills to help America, demonstrating how different the GOP majority is from Obama, and send them to the president.

“The prize here is not the impeachment of Obama and the curtailing of his term by three months. The prize is winning the White House in 2016 and changing the country,” he said.

He said Congress’ reaction to a unilateral move by Obama on immigration should be to defund the programs, encourage private legal challenges and make it clear that any executive order would be canceled by an incoming president in 2017.

Krauthammer: ‘Seething’ Obama would welcome impeachment

That's better!

Yup, just as I said. Obama will try to bait them. I hope they don't bite.

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

Neither what you imagine you understand about my views or what you can live with interests me.

I've known about Dr. Krauthammer's education and background for quite a few years. And your pretense that I was including him among the leftist dim bulbs is lame.

Back off a few clicks and calm down, bud. I do not play gotcha and I'm not going to play it with you.

You erroneously compared dim bulbs (your reference, not mine) to Krauthammer.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

Exactly. That is precisely why the OP is a non-starter. This is most certainly not the hill on which the GOP wants to die.

Think about it.....what could Joe Biden do in less than a year with not having any Congress.

Also, the Demos have their own civil war going. How many will view a blatant disregard for the Constitution and our way of government and not act?

Hmm. Tough question there MCC. How much of a sacred cow is the first black president to the Democrats?
Wouldn't you have to answer 'Very' to this question?

Oh I'd say that they are addicted milking the real sacred cow, a lot.

Nice to see that some of them are being sent home for a change.
Isn't this one of the largest number of freshmen entering the congress after an election?

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

The House could have impeached Obama at any time. The problem that the House leadership does not have specific charges. If the house used vague... non specific Constitutional ideals... they would be ridiculed by legal scholars and pundits on the extreme political nature of the impeachment.

Too many in the party would not be happy with the House making a mockery of the process and putting the GOP in a bad historical light.

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

Substantively? Not much. But he could possibly look damned good doing it. That could be a problem for the GOP.

Shooting straight from the hip I would think that impeaching Obama would piss off more people than the GOP can afford to piss off. Don't mistake the GOP win for a big "like" from America, it wasn't. The GOP doesn't have that much political capital to gamble on an impeachment hearing. Then there is the minority vote, which the party of angry old white dudes needs and will need more and more of in the future. I'm not an ethnic minority and thus I cannot speak for or with any real insight into ethnic communities, but I don't believe they are in love with either major party. I know for certain they aren't head over heels in love with the GOP. Many may equate impeachment with lack of respect, commitment, understanding of ethnic issues. Does the GOP really want to take that chance? Hell no, they don't.

Have it all happen and problems over a Ferguson verdict, minority voters just aren't going to flock to the GOP. Then Biden becomes the President and doesn't screw anything up and looks good and trustworthy. It could happen. Biden isn't stupid. He's not diplomatic, LOL, but that could play in his favor, not being slick and polished at a time when most of us are sick of that crap.

The establishment GOP is having none of that. They are better off having Obama finish his term and I think the establishment GOP are very much aware of that. Tea baggers? I don't know. Neocons? I have no idea. Krauthammer is in some ways like Limbaugh, except he is more educated.

Also, the Demos have their own civil war going. How many will view a blatant disregard for the Constitution and our way of government and not act?

They do have their own civil war going. Looking at both ****ed up parties I never regret having left both behind.

Well think about the Republicans have always said. Never tell ones enemy what they wont be doing.....Right?

Cmon now Biden not screw up? Not say something stupid? Joe will just look good taking it to its end course.....smiling, and waving to the crowds, and signing those Autographs for 20 bucks a pop.

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

Watch his comments to Megyn Kelly:

Will Congress try to impeach a President for using executive power to make sweeping immigration law changes, and is it warranted?

Lets hope so. A sure fire way to get out the democratic vote. Go Tea Party Whackos!

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

If, in fact, there is a 50 years from now...

I believe that there will be a universe 50 years from now but I'm not sure how many people will be around then.

Let's hope for the best.

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

Thanks, WCH for the non-biased report by "Committee for Justice".

Committee for Justice

Committee For Justice (CFJ), with more than 200,000 members and supporters is America's largest and most influential conservative legal and legislative action organization dedicated to holding America's political leaders accountable to the law and the Constitution.

Impeachment, regardless how well deserved isn't going to be the best way to further the Republican's positions.
So I figure that McConnell and Boehner, who have been around long enough that they know this, aren't going to let that happen. Also, if I recall, there are far fewer of the zealots in congress now than before.

As Krauthammer points out, this comes with significant political risk and really, without much benefit to them or the party.
There are other ways to handle the situation far more effectively.

Let's hope that the Republicans handle this to their advantage, rather than going off and doing something foolish. No need to have the other 2/3's of the government behaving foolishly and stupidly. But then, you can never tell for sure until it's happening.

I guarantee you the repugnicons will be acting foolishly and stupidly. Especially since they have a little power. They think the lowest midterm turn out with an unpopular president gives them cart blanch. I can't wait to see what Bills they propose. That is if they decide to actually do some work as they have no real interest in actually governing. Their expertise is causing gridlock and producing filibusters. That poor senior who yelled "keep government out of my medicare" won't know what hit him.

There are many other ways to kill off anything Obama wants to put forward, instead of impeaching him. Impeachment is what Obama wants I believe. Best to keep his EO's unfunded, and simply make him wear out his veto pen - or if he doesn't want to veto - let the bills pile up on his desk. His legacy will continue to drop like a stone - Republicans look great because they keep passing bills and Obama either veto's them or won't sign them. Unless Obama actually commits outright treason, impeachment shouldn't be on the table.

Exactly. Each of those actions carries far less political risk, far less exposure to repercussions, enough so to make those a wise move.

Holding both houses of congress is little power? Last I recall, holding both houses of congress was 2/3's of the government.

The bills have already started. The Keystone XL pipeline is up for a vote, but that's more the Democrats wanting to rescue Landrieu from her foibles.

Gridlock? Bipartisanship? Governing rather than politiciking? You are describing the Democratically controlled Senate and the White House, not the House.

Let me introduce you to some facts here, in a form, such as Gruber is preparing for explaining ObamaCare, that you may understand.

What, exactly, is the point of the Senate not taking up a bill that has passed the house unanimously?

Re: Krauthammer: 'Impeachable Offense'

Krauthammer represents some of the worst of what America is today. He reminds me of a little dog that sits on the porch and yaps day and night and never shuts up. Doesn't do anything, but yap, yap, yap.
I am quite certain you think that of Krauthammer because you wouldn't be able to put together a coherent response to anything the man says if you had ten people helping you.

Neocons have been/are/will be impeach obsessed. It never stops with them.

You are aware that he's a quadriplegic? May explain your perception that he doesn't 'do anything'.

I am quite certain you think that of Krauthammer because you wouldn't be able to put together a coherent response to anything the man says if you had ten people helping you.

Indeed.
