Some would, even if the only thing they got out of it was a chance to see some naked girls. Granted these days the internet and it's massive porn collection may prevent some of that, but still...

She may pretend to be transgendered just so as to gain access to the boys shower room. In such a case she would probably be welcomed.

She may really be a transgendered boy. In such a case he can shower with the rest of the boys.

Either way she/he can access the boys shower room.

That is not accurate. Sexual identity and sexual orientation are not the same thing. For example, a transsexual FTM could be gay, also.

As far as the OP, that is absolutely ridiculous. Firstly, most transsexuals are totally uncomfortable changing in ANY locker room. I universally write gym notes so that a transsexual can change in the nurse's office, in private. Secondly, this is beyond bathroom issues which are nearly completely clandestine. The level of discomfort from others, in this situation, must also be considered.

I have 3 teenage boys and when they get home from school later I'm going to ask them, but I'll venture a guess that none of them even know what transgender is.

Not at all. They are out all the time with friends, and they all go to a large public high school. They are all also active in sports teams and go away to camps for 3 weeks every summer. Trust me, they socialize even more than I did at their ages.

They know what it means to be gay. I don't believe any of them know what it means to be transgender. To a point someone made earlier (Deuce maybe) the probability of a high school boy letting it out that he's transgender is very very low. In my kids' school (we live in a pretty wealthy town, and it is also pretty conservative) the probability is probably even lower.

That's all that high school is anymore, since learning sure as hell doesn't take place. It's just throwing a bunch of psycho/socio paths in with some innocent kids who deserve better, and see who can escape without PTSD.

But what really doesn't belong in a learning environment is bigotry and intolerance.

Yeah freaking right. Let's not pretend that some FtM wasn't thought of as female by their peers and will suddenly fake being male just to get a glimpse at the guys changing? That is nowhere near the price of ridicule and possible sexual harassment that would be in store. I just can't imagine anyone faking this.

The interesting aspect of this is allowing a trans kid to participate on the sports team of identified gender. Some will be up in arms about this being unfair (especially if MtF), but a lot of trans kids started out with ambiguous gender at birth, where the doctors and parents rush to choose one gender. Sometimes, obviously, they get it wrong. Why should the kid then be unable to compete in sports?

Because of unfair the unfair benefit of exposure to the sexually attractive gender.

To the contrary, I want straight people to benefit equally for this reason. Such as showering together with girls for instance.

Why would you want to? If administrators truely believe that these boys are really girls than there should be no need to separate them. This is where the rubber meets the road. If we are going to accept that boys who identify as girls are really girl with a dick, than let them shower with your daughter. If it makes you uncomfortable than you are lying to yourself about where you actually stand on politics vs reality. Not meaning you specifically, iangb, just generally. Building different facilities admits that they are not girls.

I am ok with any individual born in a male body who has been carefully diagnosed as having GID or whatever the title is now showering with my daughter. Whether or not that individual is attracted to my daughter sexually or not isn't going to matter since those born in female bodies with attractions to females will also most likely be in there with my daughter. The odds of either (in terms of being attracted to my daughter) actually being in there are low and the odds of them doing anything were they in there, are lower.
