You mentioned "the power to take it away."

    Take what away, then?

That's not going to happen. Please stop pretending it's a reasonable suggestion.

I propose that this isn't a "rights" issue but a drama issue. We have "Civil Unions" in Colorado. I am all for Civil Unions. Civil Unions give people the same legal rights and benefits as married people but the gay community is still pushing to modify the definition of marriage. Why is that if it is a "Rights" issue if they already have the same rights?

Then, people should stop crying when the government bans gay marriage.

That won't happen either. Hell, there isn't a single Republican in congress who ran on that premise. It's a dead issue for them for the most part. 30+ states already have it +DC. Please stop pretending 'getting out of gay marriage' is a reasonable suggestion. It's not going to happen.

Yeah well let me know when politicians start thinking that is an idea that ensures their reelection.

If you think that's going to happen, you haven't been paying attention.

Well it was held up for a couple days now it is ready to proceed
"WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed same-sex marriages to proceed in Kansas, lifting a temporary stay issued Monday by Justice Sonia Sotomayor."

You'll have to show where heterosexuals "own" the right to the word marriage. And please don't use religion as "marriage" is done also by the Justice of the Peace (non-religious). Words change or are modified all the time.
