Report: Exec amnesty 'no matter how big a shellacking' for dems

He said he would wait till the end of the year before doing something. What exactly he will do is unknown, but if not granting amnesty, then what?

There is a big need for immigration reform, I think we can all agree on that. But what actually happens may or may not include amnesty in some form(like the dreamers) but we just don't know for sure. I really don't think he will just do a blanket amnesty like what has been done in the past but then I can't say for certain he won't. It's just a wait and see game at this point.

In the end it doesn't really matter, even if he comes up with the most comprehensive, logical, border securing, deport every illegal alien bill, everyone would still find something to bitch about, right?

Yeah, I'd like to see that.

He's a lame duck President with nothing to lose......he will try to pick up that 'all important' Hispanic vote for the Dems.......and ignore the White vote

It won't be just Whites he'll piss off. It'll be Blacks too.

I don't think he'll go that far. He has to know at this point the electorate is not with him anymore and any attempts to drag the country further to the left will undermine Democrats 2016. I'm guessing the next 2 years will be "cool" but not "cold" with a few token gestures of bipartisanship and not too many waves as the Democrats regroup for the next election.

I just hope the GOP doesn't go off the deep end in pursuit of some perceived but non-existent mandate. Right now they're back in control of the Senate because people are unhappy with the Democrats and that is the ONLY reason.

How many more reasons does it take! It happened in 2010 and they didn't change their MO - eventually people get tired of complaining about it and vote them out. They had two chances, and if they don't start listening, it will happen again in 2016. 3 strikes, and you know the rest of the quote.

Blacks and Hispanics are both in the Rainbow Coalition that hates the White man...........and loves free stuff...........

I do not disagree but it beats wasting time and passing hundreds of bills that have no chance of passing. I just do not see how this election will change anything.

 when the option is to pass lots of bills with no chance or no bills with no chance, at least the former lets' people know where you stand. Some of those bills are bi-partisan, as well.

On what legal basis will Obama grant amnesty?

There is a precedent for this. He'll probably use the same legal basis that Ronald Reagan used for amnesty in 1985. ie: It won't just be granted, individuals will have to sign up for it. That allows the immigration and naturalization department to vet the applicants.

Thanks for that link American.

I was working closely with about 100 illegal Mexican construction workers that year. I would guess that less than one-half of them were interested in signing up for the new amnesty. The ones that wanted to sign up were thinking that they could change jobs (for more money) much easier. The general consensus for both groups was that they were simply working out-of-town. It just so happened that the work was also out-of-country.

They had strong nationalistic ties to Mexico. They only complained that their government was too corrupt.

They all wanted to retire in Mexico with their friends and relatives. The younger guys showed signs of home-sickness. None wanted to become Americans and stay here. It's not that they didn't like us. They were appreciative of the work that they were able to come here and do. They just all wished that there were jobs in their home towns and States in Mexico.
