VT's Automatic License Plate Readers: 7.9 Million Plates Captured, Five Crimes Solved

    https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20...s-solved.shtml

Over the past five years, law enforcement agencies in Vermont have invested more than $1 million in technology that gathers millions of data points every year about the whereabouts of vehicles across the state.

Yet even with the millions of scans, the system has not led to many arrests or breakthroughs in major criminal investigations, and it hasnít led to an increase in the number of tickets written for the offenses the technology is capable of detecting.
The ALPRs records millions of plates but only lead to 5 arrests in that many years. I am so surprised at how bad these is that I can't think of any clever commits about it. What do you guys think about these DHS funded project?
You can refine anything in it's pure form to use for good or evil. This goes for everything, not just materials.

I see it all as "marketing" or creating shelf space for products created by the Military/Industrial/Corporate complex. That's what I also think about the hysterical terrorism agenda promoted in the USA. This is all bout expanding markets, especially as we were winding down in Iraq and Afghanistan and these Corporations needed bailing out and it is all akin to the TARP program for the Auto Industry. Keeps the War Industries rich, don't ya' know? That is an industry over twide as large as the Auto industry. It's embarrassing as "War is good business, and business is good."
