That's ok we didn't want to chat about radical Islam this week anyway, or executive privilege. Ever imagine CNN would totally ignore a president excreting executive privilege ?

Told you so. If a physician of his training can not only contract but travel with ebola we NEED to close those nations to travel. This is BASIC stuff folks, no epidemiology or infectious disease training needed. The African nations that have restricted travel (even while being located between outbreak nations) have prevented this disease from spreading into their countries.

If U.S.-trained medical staff can't return, then why would they go to Africa to help stop this thing from spreading? Do you really think that by leaving the Africans to their own devices we'll be able to avoid a problem?

Those are other reasons to remind us why Obama is a horrible President. Cant remind people of that just before an election, you know. Especially since ebola is a great distraction. Though it still has plenty of fail on its own and with a non-liberal potus this alone would be unacceptable.

Do you think I'm suggesting they stay there permanently? They should be quarantined like everyone else, and then get to come back. I've provided medical care in 3rd world countries-its a known and understood complication of infectious disease medicine.

The alternative is spread of a highly contagious and highly lethal disease, potentially to millions. They understand that-thats why they went there in the first place.

You said these countries should be closed to travel. I understood that to mean no travel.

Except medical staff and military. They however STILL need an observation period THERE, and would still REQUIRE quarantine if they showed any symptoms.

Dealing with this isn't enormously complex, lets stop relying on the self-reporting and fundamentally flawed "temp scans" and start getting serious about this disease-the consequences are too serious too ignore.

This is one place where EVERYONE should be conservative, but there are lefties who's own ideology will prevent that.

    OK. That's reasonable.

Of course, had we closed that travel, we would have left the Dr to die in West Africa. That is, unless, of course, you would prefer we continue to send one Gulfstream V per sick individual.

What is becoming abundantly clear here is that health care workers that treat late stage ebola are most susceptible. The one case in Dallas that involved an infected person out and about in the community when he was contagious resulted in NO transmissions of the virus, even to his family members and girl friend. Experts have said all along that this is an extremely hard disease to convey. That appears to be true.

This is really turning into much to do about nothing. The idea of cutting off travel is actually starting to appear to be not a particularly good idea.

Relax. You are still far more likely to die in a mall shooting or car jacking.

How will restricting travel prevent doctors from contracting Ebola while while they treat patients in Africa? That seems to be the problem now.
