McCain says he would support Rand Paul for President

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

Rand is a social conservative with no principles behind his supposed non-interventionism. He's an Israel shill, he is peddling the ISIS propaganda, and he wanted sanctions on Russia. He's no libertarian. He may have some libertarian leanings occasionally, but overall he is just a watered down version of the same **** we've been getting.

He is a libertarian claiming to be a conservative GOP just like his father

Nah...you can't support the war on drugs, abortion laws, traditional marriage, economic sanctions, entangling foreign alliances, closed borders, etc. and still claim to be a flesh and blood libertarian. He has some libertarian leanings, I have said I would give him that much, but I really think it's the other way around with him.

He has shown he is more libertarian than anything just like his father who actually ran for president as a libertarian candidate

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

Rand Paul represents more of a shake up than the hope and change candidate did.

People don't go for sweeping changes in politics. We got where we are through incrementalism.

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

McCain has more party loyalty than I do on this. I don't think I could support Paul over Clinton if he was the nominee, his foreign policy perspective would be disastrous coming on the heels of the past eight years of this administration.

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

Hmm I may have to apologize. I could've sworn that was said but I can't find anything on it by googling for it.

I didn't think he did, Kitty. He (McCain) didn't endorse anyone in NH or the other states during the 2012 primaries and I never remember him saying anything negative about Paul. Paul threw his support behind McCain in 2008 when he dropped out of the race, and I know McCain appreciated that.

Obama and Hilary's has been disastrous. You show you are not looking at what has happened the last 6 years

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

It's not a serious signifier for someone firmly entrenched on the Right such as yourself, but it is a signifier for those that were of the assumption Rand Paul was some sort of maverick like his father.

It's not a serious signifier to those of us who see the maverick label as having serious limitations. Reality is quite sobering. Idealism is great if you want to be a drunken or stoned fool. Outsider politics are so meaningless.

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

Don't ya just love how one repub says they would support another if they get the nomination, and all of the sudden it's OMG, McCain is going to support Paul....What a bunch of nothing.

I am so pleased they added the "left-libertarian" distinction to lean around here. You see that type of idiocy constantly, and it seems to follow that lean quite frequently.

Ron Paul did not back McCain in 08. He backed the Constitution Party candidate.

Lol, and how exactly is a conservative a libertarian? Here's a hint: They aren't.

While some conservatives have "libertarian" leans, conservatism itself is about preserving tradition. Libertarianism is about preserving liberty.

Nevermind the fact that libertarianism started as a leftist movement, and is still viewed as leftist almost everywhere else except America.

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

A rather key qualifier you are leaving out:

Um. Duh?

That's an important qualifier. I'm pretty sure McCain will support anyone who is the republican nominee.

Rand Paul collects yet another establishment politician. Are people still convinced this guy is some fresh outsider that will shake things up?

This is very good news. No all we need is for the GOP to take the Senate in a few weeks and the stage is all set for Paul to become the new Barry Goldwater and it will be 1964 all over again.

the original understanding of the constitution is something I favor us returning too. I don't care if you call it classic liberal, conservative, or origami, it beats the idiotic tenets of "left-libertarianism", which is just a bunch of class zealots crying because they are too stupid to make it in this world without massive government overreach.

McCain Endorses Rand Paul

that's somewhat surprising, unless Paul has become a hawk, unlike his father. McCain is one of the biggest hawks on capital hill.

Being endorsed by McCain is like a giant smelly turd wanting to give you a hug. ew

I wanted to call it doing an Obama on the candidates, but your version is just fine.

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

Well I don't either, but if you're looking for someone fresh and divergent from the establishment, it should probably concern you when the candidate you support is enthusiastically backed by a good chunk of the establishment.

I would hope many would support him. He. Makes the most sense of all the candidates

Only your hard leftist and rhinos will criticize him for it

Paul is the only candidate that defers to the constitution in most of his policies

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

I'm done playing the games. Have been for a while. I vote almost exclusively third party now unless, and this is rare, there is a halfway decent candidate running major party. There have been a few Democrats in my voting history and I supported Ron in 2012, but besides that it's been mostly Greens and Libertarians.

You're done playing the games and you have been for a while?? How old are you? Like early 20's.

Re: McCain Endorses Rand Paul

So tired of these misleading titles about Rand Paul.

McCain is not endorsing Paul in the primaries. But he would support him if he was the GOP nominee.

Rand said the same thing before the 2012 primaries. Does that mean he endorsed every candidate in the primary?

You clearly aren't paying attention.

just look at who started the thread. Once you see that, you have to pretty much red flag everything said as being complete bull****

McCain? Isn't that the same guy who thought Half-Term Governor Sarah Palin would make a spiffy Vice President? McCain has the leadership intelligence of a lard bucket. If John McCain endorses someone, you'd be wise to vote for the opponent.
