Nor was it to Bush supporters before then.

    It's like a never-ending vicious cycle.

My cynic tainted (tiny little piece of) hope is that if we're going to pick a turd that it be the shiniest of the two.

Ron Paul wasn't perfect on the issues, but he was a legitimate outsider. His son seems to be more of a shill than anything else.
I agre that Rand Paul is a bit of a demagogue. In the past he's said some remarkably idiotic things about foreign policy.

But you are taking a story' whose headline is basically "John McCain Confirms Both He and Rand Paul Are Republicans" and treating it as though it were some kind of serious signifier.

I'm done playing the games. Have been for a while. I vote almost exclusively third party now unless, and this is rare, there is a halfway decent candidate running major party. There have been a few Democrats in my voting history and I supported Ron in 2012, but besides that it's been mostly Greens and Libertarians.

It appears Rand id taking over for his father and has collected some of his political help. Rand is a libertarian and probably as whacked out as hie father was

It's not a serious signifier for someone firmly entrenched on the Right such as yourself, but it is a signifier for those that were of the assumption Rand Paul was some sort of maverick like his father.

Rand is a social conservative with no principles behind his supposed non-interventionism. He's an Israel shill, he is peddling the ISIS propaganda, and he wanted sanctions on Russia. He's no libertarian. He may have some libertarian leanings occasionally, but overall he is just a watered down version of the same **** we've been getting.

Rand Paul collects yet another establishment politician. Are people still convinced this guy is some fresh outsider that will shake things up?
Interesting article. I kind of had a "no ****" moment though:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told The New Yorker he would support Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) for president if Paul is the Republican nominee.

I'm going to guess that McCain will support whoever is the Republican nominee. It wasn't really an endorsement for "Rand Paul for President in 2016" which is what I expected to see when I opened the Hill article.

okay. If ya'll are so out there that you have to insist that the GOP supporting its' own Presidential Candidate is some kind of proof of nefariousness, well, enjoy the view, I suppose

Ooops, sorry. I didn't read all the posts before I posted - just read the linked article. I posted the same thing.

Nah, McCain said in 2012 he would not back a Ron Paul presidency regardless of if he got the nomination or not. What also concerned me was the smug way he stated that he could influence Rand. Which is true if you look at some of the areas Rand has backed down on foreign policy issues.
