If they are building hospitals when exactly would they be wearing these suits?

Unless you're talking about the more popular brothels during port stops I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Sounds to me like your picture of the situation is somewhere between a Hollywood film and a far right wing paranoia horror scenario.

Are these soldiers coming into direct contact with sick people?

Are they treating and coming into contact with their fluids?

Do you believe Ebola is floating as a huge toxic cloud over this region?

If the answer is no to any of these questions than hazmat suits are not required.
.... that is most likely the most dangerous thing our soldiers will do in West Africa. That is one place that getting the disease is possible...

Also note from the same article:
That's not the 101st ABD. Two different units.

This is an Army unit, not a Navy unit. They don't make ports of call.

Are you 100% certain that these troops will never be exposed to ebola during their mission?

I'll ask you the same question: you're 100% certain that these troops will never be exposed to ebola during their mission?

Are you 100% certain they aren't going to go in the ocean during their trip? Why aren't we issuing them full chain-mail shark suits?!?

No one is 100% sure of anything. When would builders of hospitals actually wear these suits? Certainly not while doing the actual building. Then they would be in camp, I'm guessing not to bed. I guess its possible they could come upon someone with the disease but they probably wouldn't be wearing them in that case anyway. The suits should be issued to those that will come in contact with infected individuals. Maybe a couple of suits for this kind of unit in case they need to work with or help an infected individual. (Not sure this is likely but anything is possible)

    From the article I supplied:

A briefing and training session at Fort Campbell on Thursday was both a confidence builder and a reality check for 101st Airborne soldiers soon bound for Liberia
    Did you catch that?

Yes, I'm 100%+ certain that those troops will not be attacked by sharks.

I am 100% certain they won't be providing direct healthcare services to Ebola patients. So, no need for specialty equipment to guard against a very long shot risk.
