Liberian health-care workers said they would strike early Monday, citing the government’s failure to negotiate on requests for higher hazard pay and safer working conditions as the Ebola outbreak ravages the country. Doctors, nurses and others working in medical facilities have been particularly hard hit by the virus that has killed more than 2,000 people in Liberia and more than 4,000 world-wide since it emerged in December, according to World Health Organization figures. The disease has killed two of the country’s most-prominent doctors, the latest just last week. But Liberia’s National Health Workers Association represents about 10,000 workers, and a full strike could deal a serious blow to a country in the middle of a massive epidemic.

Mr. Williams said the dollar figures were negotiable but that the government had refused to meet with the union leadership for negotiations, so they had decided to go ahead with the strike despite the risk that it would worsen the crisis.....snip~

Liberian Health-Care Workers Threaten to Strike - WSJ

They need to give these medical people the money they are asking for. Other countries should offer to pitch in. What say ye?

The Democrat Alan Greyson sent a letter to BO.....asking him to place a travel ban on Liberia and the other Ebola infected countries.

Well besides the Medical people threatening to go on strike.....they had one of their people die in Germany.

U.N. worker dies from Ebola in Germany.....

A United Nations employee receiving treatment in Germany for Ebola has died from the disease, a hospital in Leipzig said Tuesday. The unnamed patient, 56, was being treated at the St. Georg hospital, the Associated Press reported. He contracted the virus while working in Liberia. The man died despite "intensive medical procedures," the hospital said. The patient was diagnosed with Ebola on Oct. 6 and arrived in Leipzig for treatment on Oct. 9. Germany has treated at least three people who have contracted the virus.

A Senegalese man was released from a Hamburg hospital on Oct. 3 and a Ugandan man is still being cared for at a clinic in Frankfurt.....snip~

Great, a study of the current Ebola outbreak has shown that 87.1% of all patients in the infectious stage of Ebola had a fever while 12.9% did not. So the current screening process by WHO and the airlines won't catch about 1 in every 9 cases. Leaving that 1 in 9 to potentially infect other people.

Heya JM. :2wave: That is correct.....only 12% don't show signs of a fever. Still.....I can't believe these people were not given protective equipment.

BO is blaming the World in not doing enough to stop the Ebola. What say ye?

Obama: World is not doing enough to contain Ebola.....

U.S. President Barack Obama says "the world as a whole is not doing enough" to contain the Ebola epidemic. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).....snip~
