NYPD Cops Investigated For Allegedly Pistol-Whipping Unarmed Teen (VIDEO)

Was he sentenced?

Did he have dope on his person?

You seem to be implying he deserves to be beaten by police for breaking the law. That's a punishment by state officials before he's been sentenced.

You seem to be implying that law enforcement officers shouldn't enforce the law.

OMG, aren't poliice officers supposed to be officers of the peace or peace officers?

NYPD Cops Investigated For Allegedly Pistol-Whipping Unarmed Teen (VIDEO)

Two New York City police officers were under criminal investigation for allegedly beating an unarmed 16-year-old who was raising his hands in a show of surrender, the news website DNAinfo New York reported on Tuesday.

The website's investigative unit, "On The Inside," obtained surveillance footage that it said showed the Aug. 29 incident in Brooklyn.

In the footage, two officers were seen running up to a teenager, who was identified by DNAinfo as Kahreem Tribble. The teen, reportedly suspected of possessing marijuana, stopped running and was punched in the face by one of the officers, according to DNAinfo. Tribble then raised his hands and the second officer used his gun to allegedly clock Tribble in the face, according to the website.

Yeah. That doesn't look particularly good for the cops. The kid had stopped and appeared to be cooperating (better late than never) when the first cop clocked him and then the second cop smacking him with the pistol was well beyond the pale.

What's stupid about: if you're not breaking the law, stuff like this doesn't happen? Things like this don't happen by accident.

The cops job is to effect an arrest (if necessary) and finish the situation with the least force necessary. From what I saw there was plenty of unnecessary force used.

Now, for every video like this I see there are 10 where the cop acted justifiably so I really don't think the problem is endemic.

But, bteaking the law is ok?
Of course not. If they did they have to be arrested and prosecuted. That however does not include abuse by jackass cops.

You're condoning teenagers engaging in felonious activity?
No I am not, nor am I excusing or condoning abuse because of it.

Not once have I seen you crticize the kid, only the cops.

Endemic, perhaps not, but one must keep in mind that it is this that so many see and unfortunately we see it a lot more often now-a-days creating the impression that it is the norm.

Where, exactly, does the law state criminals must be beaten by police?

Where does the law state that cops have to sit back and do nothing, while criminals run buck wild? What if that boy got away, and murdered someone later that night? I guess you think that would be ok?

I is not for me to criticize to kid, I do not know what happened so I defer to the prosecutors and the justice system. For all I care they can hang him later, but only if justly convicted.

Maybe, maybe not, but it doesn't change the reality that if this kid hadn't been breaking the law, he wouldn't have gotten roughed up.

Like Joe Friday used to say "just the facts ma'am..."

Well, we do have a bit of a movement to make every one of these incidents into a cause for outrage no matter what the facts are. The Outrage Industry REALLY likes this kind of video and they tend to pimp the hell out of it. Basically, a lot of what we're seeing is a manufactured response to a minor issue.

That's true but under no circumstances should we tolerate abusive practices by the state.

I don't know if its just me, but it seems the commonality between these incidents of police stepping over the line in using excessive force is white police officers and black men? I wonder if this means something?

Was the kid bleeding? Any bones broken? *****-footing around, on the part of the cops is only going to encourage crime, not discourage it.

Can't argue with that.

So we should allow the cops to do a free-for-all on suspects?
