OMG, aren't poliice officers supposed to be officers of the peace or peace officers?

NYPD Cops Investigated For Allegedly Pistol-Whipping Unarmed Teen (VIDEO)

Two New York City police officers were under criminal investigation for allegedly beating an unarmed 16-year-old who was raising his hands in a show of surrender, the news website DNAinfo New York reported on Tuesday.

The website's investigative unit, "On The Inside," obtained surveillance footage that it said showed the Aug. 29 incident in Brooklyn.

In the footage, two officers were seen running up to a teenager, who was identified by DNAinfo as Kahreem Tribble. The teen, reportedly suspected of possessing marijuana, stopped running and was punched in the face by one of the officers, according to DNAinfo. Tribble then raised his hands and the second officer used his gun to allegedly clock Tribble in the face, according to the website.

When are people going to realize that cops have an "us vs them" mentality - as if we're all criminals...

IMO, I think most cops are sociopaths with massive ego's who believe they can get away with anything they want..... Even when caught, they're placed on paid leave of desk duty and if even found guilty are allowed to keep their pensions and in some cases get their jobs back.

I hate cops because they're bullies and gangbangers.

What was that boy doing, before he got his ass whipped?

You can see one of the cops hit him with the bag while the kid is on the ground in handcuffs

No way, police brutality, who would have ever suspected that people in a position of power would abuse it.

Ahh! He was breaking rhe law. Ok.
It doesn't look OK to me. It looks like a cop hit an unarmed, non-violent, no-longer-resisting suspect several times.

IIRC this is a common problem with law enforcement; they get amped up by chasing a suspect, and lose control. Sure looks like an investigation is warranted.

Damn right and by that stupid line of reasoning too bad he did not shoot him and save taxpayer money too.

What's stupid about: if you're not breaking the law, stuff like this doesn't happen? Things like this don't happen by accident.

If he hadn't been breaking the law, it wouldn't have happened.

Possibly... but does it make it right?

What is the appropriate punishment for a non violent crime and how far should cops be able to go once a person has surrendered?

We already know you condone prison rape... how far would you take that?

He was running, not surrendering.

When did I condone prison rape?

Ahh! He was breaking rhe law. Ok.

And, as we know, breaking any law excuses any amount of force by the police. Brilliant!

You are right things don't happen by accident and these types of thigs only happen because of stupidity, the very kind that excuses abuse because of the general premise of a broken law.

He was running, not surrendering.

That is debatable based on the video, he was cornered and it would appear he gave up, but we'll have to wait and see.

I'm not the one rushing to conclusions, you are the one making the blanket statement that he may have committed a crime so that made it A-OK for what the officers did.

When did I condone prison rape?

I don't want to get too much into it, as it's not the topic but an illustration of what you believe criminals deserve regardless of the circumstances, but we went for many pages on this and you clearly condoned it happening, CLEARLY, so don't try and fib your way out of it now, it's waaaaaaaaaay too late for that ****.

Watched the video a bunch a times. The first cop was justified with punch he threw. That kid stepped towards him after the chase, no audio but would assume the cop was giving him orders that he didn't follow and at that point, he didn't have his hands up either.

Second cop shouldn't have have hit him with his gun, could easily be justified as excessive. Not sure what was in the bag but the third cop probably shouldn't have hit him with it.

There's breaking the law and then there's breaking the law.

Possession of up to an ounce (if I recall it may be 2 ounces) is a violation that carries a $100 fine (if I recall). It's the equivalent of a parking ticket. That's hardly a crime. There is a law against public display of marijuana that makes it a misdemeanor to display in public. An SOP for the NYPD doing stop and frisks is to ask a kid to empty his pockets and then arrest him on the misdemeanor if he's carrying. That's quite frankly bullsh*t and the brass, to their credit, ordered the practice stopped but it seems to still go on. Not saying that's what happened here but I am pointing out that simple possession in NYC is a effectively a non issue from a criminal justice standpoint and is more used by street cops who are bent on busting someone
