Daniele Watts says she was detained for ‘showing affection’

Daniele Watts says she was detained for ‘showing affection’; LAPD says they received call for
Lucas told TMZ that the couple was “making out in a parked car” outside CBS television studios, where Watts had just had a meeting. Watts said when the officers approached her, she was standing outside on the sidewalk talking to her father on the phone — the officers followed and “accosted her,” using handcuffs. Lucas said in his Facebook post that when Watts declined to show identification after the cops asked (“because they had no right to do so”), they “threw her roughly” in the police car.
Appears that this is the new go to. When police are called to check out a potential black suspect and (correctly) ask for ID, the black individual refuses and is detained for further questioning and claims racism. There have been quite a few stories like this over the past few weeks. This could have all been avoided had she just shown the ID.

BTW, the witneses have now come out and said they were actually doing more than just making out in the car.

You don't have to show your ID to a cop at all unless you're being arrested for a crime, and no, not showing your ID is not a crime, and neither is making out in the car.

And when cops have probable cause for a stop and ID is refused to be shown, they have every right to detain. So, we are right back to where it started. You can refuse to show an ID and end up making a 30 second stop into an hour stop.

If she was white, they wouldn't have hassled her.

And that's a right of a citizen to extend their discussion with the police. I'm still puzzled how race got in this? Cops don't care as we saw with them kneeling on a white 10th graders head in a high school because she refused to put her cell phone away. Now were there mitigating circumstances which cause the police to hand cuff her? Possibly.... why people rush to skin color as an excuse is actually degrading actual racist actions... soon accusations about skin color will have little to no meaning.
“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Witnesses claiming they were having sex in the car.. Yes they would have. I'm white and have been hassled for much less than that. I showed my ID and was on my way - Although told I had to leave the little store I was waiting at and go out in the winter storm due to making the shop owner uncomfortable.

Yes, that's my thought as well. claiming racism for this, minimzes ture racism.

There is a valuable lesson people would be well served to learn. When there is a criminal complaint lodged, the police investigate. Thats kinda their job. And when the police investigate, you are really kind of best served to cooperate....especially if you are innocent. But by refusing to cooperate with the police during an investigation of an alleged criminal complaint you are subjecting yourself to arrest. Law enforcement does not go back to the station hous eand say "yeah chief...we went there but the suspect was mean to us so we left". No...it is far more likely your ass will be detained and even subjected to additional charges for something that could have been easily avoided.

    As to the race comment...

Cuz we know that law enforcement NEVER investigates alleged crimes involving white people.

    racist....

I agree. The cops had every reason to suspect the suspects were engaging in prostitution...Black woman kissing white man.

And the original complaint of sex in the car from the directors guild bulding that was overlooking the car which apparently attracted quite an audience.
