In fact, from all the evidence we have, exactly the opposite has been demonstrated.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

I find it disgusting that this is a misdemeanor. It ought to be punished by imprisonment.
Typical conservative reaction- if something pisses you off, make it against the law.
The jerk in the picture deserves scorn and abuse but if he deserves to be jailed, so does that Danish cartoonist.

Everyone seems to be very focused on the Jesus aspect of this. Not the actual act. Funny thing is how many of you would flip if this was MLK or Obama or Reagan or someone you respected. When you look at the act as to how this kid is acting in public his parents should be ashamed and furious. This kid doesn't need to be arrested he needs better parenting.

Really? Convervatives are the only ones pushing laws for things that piss them off? I am pretty sure liberals are making a habit out of that too buddy.

Typical hyper-partisan reaction, take one extermist and ignore the large majority of the same political lean around him saying otherwise and treat the extremist as the norm.

Multiple conservatives (actually, the vast majority of conservatives) in this thread haven't just had a different reaction than him, but many have actually condemned his suggestion.

Oh, don't get me wrong....for every ridiculous "Make blasphemy a jailable offense" type person in this case you'd probably have a "OMG, THAT'S RACIST!" type person if it was the same thing done to an MLK statue. And in both cases such a stance, based singularly on the picture, are laughably dumb.

If someone wants to say it's disrespectful and the kid should be ashamed of himself and his parents need to do a better job, no problem...I can understand such an argument even if I may not fully agree. Same goes if it was doing it to an MLK statue.

But that's different than arresting the kid, let alone thinking he needs to actively be jailed

I am not advocating that he should be arrested. Maybe brought home by the police for being an ass in public if a cop was sitting there. But this is an issue for his parents not the legal system.
