I don't venerate a public fellatio simulating statue.Desecration of a venerated object.

Really? According to me?
No.
That's not my call so I don't speculate.
Temporal discipline must be administered fairly and equally.
You want tolerance than you must give it.
for instance, you might be aware of the hubbub that happened earlier this year at Ole Miss and a statue. What happened in the OP is no less offensive, no less a grievance, but people here want to shrug it off as no big thing. I don't think criminal charges should be brought against the idiot but I do take issue with the nonchalant attitude of posters here.
It's the same, tired, bs that equality, respect, tolerance is suppose to be given to certain groups but when it comes to others it's A OK to be iggy...
It's hypocritical.

Boy Charged For Desecration Of Jesus Statue | The Smoking Gun
I find it disgusting that this is a misdemeanor. It ought to be punished by imprisonment.
No.
The point is if you expect respect to be given that you must give it.
As would be any graven images, but the church long ago realized the marketing power of breaking one of the 10 Commandments.Perhaps that's why statues of Muhammod are forbidden. lol

Did I say that? No.
But to publicly revile Almighty God.
If he does not repent, God will judge him. The State need not get involved.
Desecration of a venerated object.
did he damage the statue in any way what's the problem?
He committed a heinous act of blasphemy.
Desecration of a venerated object.
Sooo... What was the guy charged with, public indecency?
Blasphemy isn't a crime, as far as I'm aware.
Did I say that? No.
But to publicly revile Almighty God, is a very grievous thing to do.

Is that what the courts officially charged him with?
As much as I'm appalled by what this kid did I have a hard time considering it to be anything more than public indecency. From a very brief read it doesn't appear to have been an act of vandalism so I have a hard time getting to "desecration".
One has a right to not be offended?
Public indecency, or peeing in public (which was mentioned in the article) are crimes I have no problem with... but - the article says the guy was charged with, now get this, "Desecration of a Venerable Object" - seriously.
Yes.
Statue Desecration | The Smoking Gun
The charges are crap. Now if you want to charge him with lude and lascivious behavior that's another matter.
If the people that put up the statue were against people doing this exact thing they shouldn't have put up a statue that invites it. Really, could that statue possibly invite it any more? I think not.
I've never even heard of something like that. It must be local.
that's wise but its not a crime to lack respect if it was most us posters would be in jail
