However, it isn't true. The vast, vast majority of NFL players are decent, hard working human beings who would never hit their wives/girlfriends.

If you have to kick one or two bad apples out of the league to send the right message to kids, I'm all for that. It's not like it hurts the NFL either way.
With all due respect Peter, none of us know what the vast majority of players do behind closed doors.

Fun fact: NFL players really aren't arrested much more, statistically speaking, than other people in their general age range. About the only crime category that NFL players statistically deviate from the norm in any significant way is illegal gun possession, which is likely a byproduct of being a 20-something with a lot of money.

No men are anywhere, and Im allowed to go in, because Im the owner of the pageant and therefore Im inspecting it, Trump said... Is everyone OK? You know, theyre standing there with no clothes. Is everybody OK? And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.

Huh? There's no reason for me to "forgive" Rice. He didn't do anything to me. It's between him and his wife.

I do have to say that I do think the media has taken this too far. One merely has to note that she did indeed marry the man that assaulted her. According to a few news sources that I have read, they did go to counselling and have ironed out their problems. While we do not know if they're being truthful, we have to take them at their word. Hopefully Rice has repented, and will never ever lay a hand on another woman ever again. So I personally do believe he should get another chance. Heck if she can forgive him, why can everyone else?
I don't know all of the details, but if he had held back on what had happened and then the media discovered it, the media frenzy was avoidable so to speak.

The NFL claims that it had not seen the tape in question when it dealt with his case. His coach said that the tape 'changed everything.' While the NFL and Ravens might not have done their due diligence, it is all but certain that Rice never informed either of the parties of the true magnitude of what had happened. Had he done so, his punishment might have been lengthier, but the situation would have been behind him. Almost certainly, he withheld vital details and has now wound up in a worse position than would otherwise have been the case.

That or the coaches knew that once everyone saw it....it would make them look bad. They don't want that kind of attention. I mean look at Americas reaction. We are visual people. Seeing something with our eyes leaves a bigger impression than speculation.

If that's the case and they chose expedience over appropriate action, then they simply do not belong in positions of leadership. On that issue, time will tell.

As much as any other abuse victim. She loves her abuser and there is possibly all sorts of other reasons she might be defending him. It doesn't make the team and NFL wrong for booting her husband.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

    Cicero Marcus Tullius
