Progress Being Made As Ferguson Police Officers Are Now Wearing Body Cameras

I'm not the one who has a story and is sticking to it. Any evidence yet of what happened in between the two vollies the officer fired?
:doh
And I am going by what the known evidence indicates.
We already know that Brown continued toward the Officer.

So every messure to silence these "social justice assholes" (whatever that is suposed to mean) and to get rid of bad apples should be welcome.

I'm going to use the analogy of the instant replay in American football. Everything that happens during the game is recorded and most of it is recorded by multiple high quality cameras. Based on a little bit of research it seems that the referees (cops) are right about 60% of the time. However, that rate is due to MULTIPLE (dozens) cameras being used. More often than not the view from a single camera is inconclusive. The result is likely to be the same with cops wearing cameras.

"Cops are always right, they never do wrong, everything they do is justified"- Exxcon

False and silly characterization of Excon. Might as well say about you that you propose that cops are always wrong and nothing they do is justified.

That means whatever a cop sees during the course of their working day will be on film and preserved as evidence, correct? Cops will never again be allowed to let something slide. So you can forget about leniency. Also, other crimes will be captured that the cop himself doesn't notice. Can the police then start sending fines out like the red light or speed cameras?

It can be both positives for everyone.

So maybe sometime down the road cameras should be required for everyone.

It would help sort ot domestic/neighbor disputes, home invasions, etc.. before LE arrives.

I wonder how long it will be until the first privacy violation complaints hit the ACLU.

Umm, the first time a cop's camera records inside someone house?

On the street, in a public place, there's no expectation of privacy, so recording you it not a violation. In your own house, police present or not, that may be another matter.

I can agree that the cameras are a good idea.

On the flip side, cameras can show how some citizen when engaged by the police can be total jerks, esculate the situation, threw the first punch, ect.

So it can be a protection against false police brutality claims. Just saying.

imo, cameras can help the public as well as LE.

That's the whole point.

I believe all police departments should have to wear body cameras, it not only brings more accountability to the department, but can be a protection against police brutality. This department definitely needs to wear cameras, hell all departments should. Only bad cops should be worried about body cameras. [/FONT]

Do you realize how much this is going to cost the tax payers ? There are going to be so many slam dunk convictions that they are going to have to build new prisons to hold all of these criminals who are going to be caught on video. No more claiming police brutality as a defense. Just the drunk driving convictions will increase ten fold because of the cameras.

What an idiotic comparison.

Are ordenary citizens somehow under a contract to enforce the law and peace in their communities?!

What an idiotic comment.

They are required to follow the law.

That was the point.

I also see many conspiracy theories resulting from expanded use.

How do we know the "govt" didn't edit the footage or inserted images to fit their side of things.

It just will add another layer of evidence custody trail to account for.

Dont care. You know how much lawsuits, and situations like Ferguson "cost the tax payers"?

:lamo Or are going to cost the prison industrial complex because of all the ones that are found innocent!

No more claiming police brutality as a defense. Just the drunk driving convictions will increase ten fold because of the cameras.
:lamo Well these videos should back up those officer claims who are"just doing their job" then right? Less lawsuits and appeals!

They are always wrong!!!! Anarchy!!!!

Now, when someone assaults a Ferguson cop, it's all on video.

It is going to stop a lot of false claims made against Officers.

It'll also make people think twice before getting stupid with a copp, because it's no longer, "his word against mine".

I think its funny. Many people like yourself have repeatedly said "we dont know what happened, we need a trial" (as I agree), "therefore we cant jump to any conclusions". Then you come out with these claims..

How do cameras "bring more accountability to the department"?

Didn't you assume there was police brutality in Ferguson in your OP?

How do cameras "bring more accountability to the department"?
Lets see here.... If a video is present where something like Ferguson happen there may not need to be outrage, lawsuits, etc, etc, etc..

Didn't you assume there was police brutality in Ferguson in your OP?

After multiple videos showing the police firing on the press, peaceful protesters, arresting the press, telling people they will kill them, yes you betcha I did.

Just curious, do you believe there was no accountability in Ferguson and the police were rampaging at will?

Arresting the press is "brutality"?

By the way, all of what you mentioned, as you said, was caught on video. Why the cameras too?

So if I'm getting you right you think these cameras are a good idea to prevent them from acting militant when the city is in turmoil as it was last week. Well, if people aren't looting and pillaging, it probably won't happen again. But hey, if the people in Ferguson are okay paying for these, fine by me.

Want to post a link where I said anything remotely close to that, or just go ahead and admit you're lying?
