Wyoming police officer pleads not guilty in hot-car police dog death

A police dog is a uniformed officer apsdt. Not only was she well-trained, she was very expensive to lose. We have regular fund-raiders in my county due to the necessity of what the police dog officers bring to our police forces. Therapy dogs also serve an invaluable purpose .

It's still just a dog. NIBMY.

Have you ever known a story of one of these police dog officers to give their own lives for their fellow officer?
They are so much more than just a "dog".
I would suggest a visit to a local police station with a K-9 unit.
And as I've said, my heart goes out to the officer--I assure you he is suffering beyond any suspensions .

The LEO gets a week off of work PAID? That is the disciplinary action taken against him? Why not send him on an all expense paid cruise also.

Wouldn't you know it?
I give sincere props to the policeman and police dog and rightist-wingers are chewing on the policeman and making fun of the dog .

Did you purposely miss my point?

A police dog is considered an officer of the law.

If a suspect had killed the dog he would have been charged with murder.

Why was the officer only charged with animal cruelty.

Double standard.

It is NOT a Capital offense to kill a Police dogn

It IS a Capital offense to kill a Police Officer.

No double standard

I live in Louisiana. 86 degrees is mild!...lol! I have dogs that are exposed to well over 86 degrees all day, and 95+ for a significant portion of the day and they're still alive.

On hot days the temp inside a closed car is more like an oven and substantially higher than the outside temperature....especially if the car is black.

They can purr and take out other dogs, see:

Wow that dog knew exactly what he wanted.

I have never seen a cat do anything like that.

I know mine would never do that.

86 degrees isn't exactly hot.

Upon conviction, he should be locked in a hot car for the same amount of time that poor dog was.

I thought it was a common fact that a car's interior can reach 120-140 degrees on a hot day. But with an average 37 kids dying each year when left in a hot car it is becoming common knowledge that we are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

120 degrees...on a 100 degree day.

I don't think ass sniffing is a crime.

I'll ask my dog what his problem is.

I probably won't get an answer though, he'll just tilt his head 15 degrees and give me that wtf are talking about look.

IDK, try it someday when it's sunny out, with the windows up, let us know how it was. If you don't post again, we'll understand why.

More than sad, a normal person would get prosecuted and so should this man. I understand that he has the right to plead not guilty, but he should take the responsibility for his actions and pleaded guilty or no contest IMHO. He killed his dog and should get a fine or something like that.

Also, he should be not allowed to be a dog handler for at least 6 months to a year.

IDK Peter, if it was my dog entrusted to someone to watch over, I would be highly pissed, and never allow that person to even be around another of mine, but that's just me I guess.

Makes me wonder if that maroon has children?

Its the hat. Cats can't stand any kind of hat.

What about cats? If dogs can become police officers then cats should be allowed too, otherwise its discriminatory.

I do believe another poster already said it is true.

(here's a hint, if people with no clue have the capacity to give wrong answers on a site, it's not a valid source, try citing a credible news source about someone being charged with murder for killing a police dog, or a statute or court ruling authorizing such a charge)
