I don't know how many degrees. But if I left you in a car with windows rolled up on day with temps at 86 degree and your hands were immobilized from being able to open the door how long would it be before you lost your cheery disposition?

The only good that will come out of this will be new rules and regs. It's all we can hope for--a positive change. Meanwhile, the officer and his family will be crying over their police dog's grave every evening after supper .

I live in Louisiana. 86 degrees is mild!...lol! I have dogs that are exposed to well over 86 degrees all day, and 95+ for a significant portion of the day and they're still alive.

More rules and regulations? C'mon, it's just a dog!

A police dog is a uniformed officer apsdt. Not only was she well-trained, she was very expensive to lose. We have regular fund-raiders in my county due to the necessity of what the police dog officers bring to our police forces. Therapy dogs also serve an invaluable purpose .

Have you ever known a story of one of these police dog officers to give their own lives for their fellow officer?
They are so much more than just a "dog".
I would suggest a visit to a local police station with a K-9 unit.
And as I've said, my heart goes out to the officer--I assure you he is suffering beyond any suspensions .

The LEO gets a week off of work PAID? That is the disciplinary action taken against him? Why not send him on an all expense paid cruise also.

A police dog is considered an officer of the law.

If a suspect had killed the dog he would have been charged with murder.

Why was the officer only charged with animal cruelty.

    Double standard.
It is NOT a Capital offense to kill a Police dogn

It IS a Capital offense to kill a Police Officer.

    No double standard
