But, his lyrics show us that he may in fact have been the racist one, not the officer.

Similar with Trayvon Martin, where they accused George Zimmerman of shooting down a black kid because he was black and Trayvon was this little angel. Then we find out all kinds of things about Trayvon including his use of the term "Cracker" to describe Zimmerman while he as on the phone with Dee Dee or what not.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was racist. That has nothing to do with guilt/innocence of those involved.

I don't recall this thread being about the guilt or innocence of those involved.....

It is more or less an example of how the media is always lying to you. Never believe a word the media prints about a situation like this because they are trying to create a story to get more viewers, more website hits, etc.

I fail to see what it has to do with anything. Literally. Either he robbed the store and charged the policeman, did one but not the other, or did neither.

There is literally nothing going on here that has to do with rap lyrics. You just want to make him look bad - it's the typical conservative game in these instances - show how the other person was a bad person. Is the "he charged the police" narrative collapsing, so now we have to go down this road?

Shouldn't you as a "libertarian" be concerned about the militarization of the police and the power they wield?

While I agree that the fact that the media is portraying Mike Brown as being an angel, a poor soul who never did no wrong, is biased... and I do think the fact that these realities are surfacing, about him being a store robber and being a rapper.. while on the surface it may seem like character assasination, it's not. It's just... showing the full picture.

But just because he was a rapper and a store robber, doesn't mean he should have been shot dead. These are not grounds to shoot people on. This doesn't validate him being shot 6 times.

But people who are shouting "character assassination! character assassination!", stop BSing about. It's just presenting the full picture. The good and the bad. The discussion is not whether the cop shot a kid who was an angel or a kid who was a pretend gangsta. The discussion is whether the policeman should have used deadly force in that situation. What situation? Depends which one you believe. Did he charge at the cop? If so, is it ok to use deadly force against an unarmed man then? Did he run away? Then is it appropiate to use deadly force at someone who is running away? That's it. Everything else is a side-dish. And ofc, the answer is no. The answer is that the cop did something stupid and he should have known better.

I didn't say anyone did...but he died nonetheless. And it is becoming the word of the policeman against the forensics, since nobody wants to listen to the eyewitnesses....

There's a certain smelly place on people that you must make sure your head isn't stuck in.

The fact that Brown was extremely racist and hateful could very much change the situation of how/when he died.

Brown could have provoked the cop into swearing at him to get off the street, now a swearing cop is unprofessional but I'm pretty sure that isn't illegal. We have eyewitnesses who are biased as all hell and unreliable (autopsy shot them down like a SAM site) so they're meaningless.

We have two possibilities at this point due to a strange gunshot wound in Brown's head.

He was surrendering to the cop.

OR

He was CHARGING the cop (that warrants lethal force to me, the cop was in imminent danger).

We are just as desperate to give the cop a fair chance as you are desperate to NOT give the cop a chance.
