The Detroit-area homeowner who shot in the head 19-year-old Renisha McBride was found guilty of murder Thursday afternoon. The jury found him guilty on all three charges — second-degree murder, manslaughter, and felony firearm — on its second day of deliberations.

.....Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said her office determined that Wafer “did not act in lawful self-defense.”

During the trial, prosecutors probed Wafer’s inconsistent testimony on whether he intended to fire, and questioned why, if he was shooting in fear for his life, he put his gun down by the front door. They also called upon jurors in closing arguments to consider why he didn’t make a more vigorous effort to call the police before turning to his gun, rather than making himself “judge, jury, and executioner.”

I think this is justice served.
This should be a message to all those rabid defenders of Castle Laws that they do NOT give someone a license to kill. One must be able to prove that one believed his life was in danger. His actions apparently proved to the satisfaction of the jury that was not the case.

The guy was convicted of MURDER and when a person wants to kill, that person damn sure doesn't need a gun. A simple kitchen knife will do.

Everyone has kitchen knives and they kill people. When in your home with your kitchen knives you have a responsibility to use them correctly, except when you want to use them to KILL, then you could care less about responsibility.

This is true, but the extra lethality of a firearm requires extra care. It is far easier to kill someone with a gun, and therefore far easier to accidentally kill someone with a gun. Or to kill someone you shouldn't have.

To use the absurd extrapolation, a nuclear weapon requires enormous care and extreme circumstances to justify its use because it is so devastating. More power, more responsibility. Spider-Man agrees. And he wouldn't lie to you, he's friendly.

A firearm is not more lethal than a knife, they both KILL. In this case which is what we're talking about the guy was convicted of Murder, no different than when a person is convicted of murder using a knife. OJ used a knife and killed as easily as shooting them or clubbing them with a tire iron.

The OP is not about safety, if you want safety with a gun, have trigger locks and keep them out of the reach of children etc, but that is really no different than not letting a baby play with a butcher knife or a pocket knife.

I don't think you can kill someone with a knife through a screen door.

I was relieved to see this outcome. I feel oddly sad for this poor schmo. He's in for some real misery.

Who shoots through a door besides Marlon Brando or Clint Eastwood.

He received justice. Probably shouldn't have been a gun owner in the first place.

Perhaps, but we have seen plenty of your posts that suggest that no one should be a gun owner in the first place so that claim doesn't do much to advance a legitimate argument
