I hope his claim is recognised, because that's ****ing awesome.
So follow me into the desert
    As desperate as you are
Where the moon is glued to a picture of heaven
And all the little pigs have God

I'm kind of surprised that neither Sudan nor Egypt has claimed it already. Yeah, it's virtually worthless land, but a majority of their respective countries are also worthless, so... why not?
If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

A new country requires recognition by an existing country or group of countries.

The desert is actually quite beautiful. You would think the lack of vegitation and wildlife would seem to make it otherwise, but if you have camped in the desert at night, you will see what I mean.
    - There was never a good war, or a bad peace.
    - Idealistically, everything should work as you planed it to. Realistically, it depends on how idealistic you are as to the measure of success.
    - Better to be a pessimist before, and an optimist afterwords.

    Says who? And which ones?

All recognition does is make going forward easier, it's not required.

    International legal scholars.

Any country, as the ability to start a new country derives from the right of an existing sovereign to claim land belonging to no one.

Phfft! A relatively recent construct that has no real meaning. If a new group can organize and call itself a country, and can defend itself successfully if need be, doesn't need legal approval from anybody.

Only if it wants to interact with those countries.

Maybe it just wants to be a hermit kingdom and live a life free of fuss and bother.

If it doesn't want to interact with them, what does it care if they recognize it or not?

    Fill us in.
