Border Meltdown: Obama Delivering 290,000 Illegals To U.S. Homes

"Another theme we've seen: that illegal immigrants are freeloaders taking advantage of federal welfare programs.

Those types of charges are often repeated in anonymous chain e-mails, on blogs and Facebook.

"More than 43 percent of all food stamps are given to illegals," said a typical claim, this one from a Facebook post promoting "10 Illegal Alien Facts."

When PolitiFact researched the numbers, though, we found the claim ridiculously false and rated it Pants on Fire. About 46.4 million people receive food stamps, so 43 percent of that number would be just under 20 million. That significantly exceeds estimates for how many illegal immigrants are in the country. The Pew Hispanic Center put the number at 11.2 million in 2010.

On top of that, most social welfare programs bar illegal immigrants from receiving benefits and require proof of immigration status. That includes food stamps, as well as cash welfare assistance, Medicaid, and even the new health care law.

It's true that some children of illegal immigrants qualify for benefits if they were born in the United States and are citizens. (Critics derisively call them "anchor babies.") But there aren't nearly enough of those types of children -- an estimated 4 million -- to account for 43 percent of food stamp recipients." Fact-checking immigration | PolitiFact
The "illegals" I remember when I grew up next to the border sweated all day walking around town with a landmower to make 5 bucks a lawn if they where lucky. Then turned around and paid that right into taxed goods and back into our economy. What i dont agree with is corporations and business trucking Mexicans over just to work and then dropping them back off in mexico just to reduce the cost of pay out. What I do approve of and appreciate is any Mexican that wants to join us being allowed to.

Are these Mexicans willing to work and have a job secured to cover their food and lodging and care of dependants? To pay 10-38% of their income in taxes? Plus another 7-15% in payroll tax. To pay state an local taxes? To follow all the laws under the constitution? To not enter the country until they have been approved? To integrate into our culture?

Thats a standard even US citizens cant manage. If Mexicans can, then come on in! Its not just about them wanting to come here, but not being a burden.

:doh Did i say you posted a chain email? That what was not of substance in the post I posted. Look at the data.

You cant sanction someone for citizens committing a crime. Its like someone sanctioning us because we have a lot of drug use.

Of course you can. You can sanction someone because you don't like the color of their shoes.

There is a problem here, I posted data from sources that your post didn't address. I talked facts, you talked about refuting chain letters. Nice try.

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “@This Hour,” Border Patrol agent Hector Garza said the federal government is “aiding and abetting and facilitating” illegal immigrants in crossing the border, and that many of the new illegals are “going to depend on our welfare system.”
Garza argued that many of illegal immigrants will not be sent back and burden the welfare system because “these illegal aliens are being released into our country,” and most “are never going to report back to an immigration hearing.”
Border Patrol Agent: New Illegals Will Depend on Welfare

However, while illegal immigrants cannot access certain federal benefits, they are eligible — and in fact entitled to — services provided and paid for by state and local governments. Those governments bear the bulk of the costs for illegal immigration.
Consider California, home to an estimated 2.8 million illegal immigrants, more than any other state. California has one-third of the nation’s welfare population, among its highest unemployment and tax rates, and chronic budget deficits (despite this year’s reprieve based on a retroactive tax increase).
Many of those in the United States work illegally, but many are also on public assistance. Immigrants unlawfully are eligible for emergency-room services, pregnancy-related services, public health and other programs. U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants are eligible for welfare, medical services, food stamps and other programs. States also are responsible for providing education and law-enforcement services to illegal immigrants.

YOU sir are being disingenuous and frankly lying.

What kind of worthless, uncaring parents would send their small children off into the world without someone watching out for them? Disgusting and unbelievable child neglect.

American parents are concerned if their children are outside alone. Not these South of the border 3rd world types. We do not want these sort of people in the United States.

A country cannot. If a country sanctioned whole countries because of free moving citizens....

Again. I thought you would understand that the details are not the chain email part of what I quoted but the data and the number themselves. Let me help you out real quick.

Aside from defining border invaders as free moving citizens, I really need a link as to the limitations of placing sanctions.

Did you not finish your thought because you ran out of ideas?

How can you sanction a country when the freedom of movment is a fundamental human right recognized by both the US and Mexico?

State prgrams dont. And many of them are backed with fedrral funding. Thus on any measure, you are wrong. Have a nice day.

Again, you really, truly, need a link to some verification of that fundamental human right.

You do not have a fundamental human right to violate other countries borders.

You do have a fundamental human right trespass on my property.

That's silly to the extreme and even the most leftist UN member would laugh in your face. Any so-called freedom of movement right pertains to movement within one's own country. The UN is just fine with countries having borders, they all do. There are treaties and agreements with all South American countries that govern extradition and rendition. They can be sanctioned for not living up to those.

In addition, again, fine the hell out of them on a daily basis and make any future trade or foreign aid conditional on them taking their folks back.

O provided you the proof, doing the "head slap" bit mearly shows you only read what you want to read... bull****.

A border guard saying they will be. Great proof you got there. Welfare is generally seen as SNAP, Mediciaid, and SSI. Lets see what illegal immigrants get this.
"The health law will help some gain coverage, although those in the country illegally will not get access to federal subsidies or to insurance sold through new state-based exchanges. "
FAQ: Obamacare And Coverage For Immigrants - Kaiser Health News
-Nope no Mediciaid-

"Unauthorized aliens (often referred to as illegal aliens) are not eligible for most federal benefits,
regardless of whether they are means tested. The class of benefits denied is broad. The scope of
the bar on unauthorized aliens hinges on how broadly the clause “federal public benefit” is
implemented. The law defines this clause to be
(A) any grant, contract, loan, professional license, or commercial license provided by an
agency of the United States or by appropriated funds of the United States; and (B) any
retirement, welfare, health, disability, public or assisted housing, postsecondary education,
food assistance, unemployment benefit, or any other similar benefit for which payments or
assistance are provided to an individual, household, or family eligibility unit by an agency of
the United States or by appropriated funds of the United States.40"

--Well thats just about everything--

I favor rounding up every member of the family and sending all of them back where they belong and they don't belong in America.

That would be illegal under laws passed while bush* was president.

Ironic how the same people who furiously claim that Obama ignores the law are furiously insisting that Obama ignore the law

See: International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all signed by the US and Mexico. Does it make immigration laws void? No.

I didn't bother reading the complete text, but the simplified version states that you have a right to freedom of movement in your own country. I would agree. Our own right authorizes travel between states.

I'm not clear what that has to do with illegally crossing our borders. As long as you stay in your country, no harm done.

Nice racist rant! Even the KKK would be impressed.

It states that everyone has the right of movement in their own country. Which is why it would be hard to stop and sanction Mexico from leaving their country because to leave their country they have to move closer to the border. But it also states people have the right to leave their own country and return.
