EXCLUSIVE: Anonymous Says it Will Attack Countries Supporting ISIS and ‘Assault [American] Virtual Government Infrastructure’

07/04/2014 (11:59am)

This week, the hacktivist collective known as Anonymous announced in a video on YouTube that it will soon launch “Operation NO2ISIS,” an attack on official websites of countries the group considers to be financially supporting the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) Cyber Jihad Lab Project that monitors the activity of online jihadi and hactivists groups from the Middle East and South Asia, “The name NO2ISIS is taken from #OPNo2ISIS, an anti-ISIS movement formed in reaction to ISIS's expansion into Iraq. Operation NO2ISIS's stated targets are Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, and Anonymous has said that it will also attack the US in the event of any attempt on its part ‘to fuel [its] military industrial complex.’”

MEMRI will be releasing a report on the matter.

The following is a transcript of the video, as provided by Anonymous:

Interesting. I wonder how successful they will be, and what if any impact this will have on ISIS or the US?

Here's the video:

Do they even still have computers left in Iraq to be hacked? How will this make a difference?

Hmmmm, interesting. I'm a bit surprised by this, to tell you the truth.

Of course they have computers. They use computers on the internet to move money around, post web messages to their followers, post videos, email each other and so on.

Plus, the threat made was against the governments that support them as well - Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - and against the part of the US that they call the Military Industrial Complex.

So... given their proven ability to cause havoc, this is a real threat to their targets.

That was a campy video.

They need a better director of photography.

I offer my services.

It surprised me as well. These guys can cause a real problem for the electronic financial infrastructure of just about anyone. They crashed the FBI, CIA and many other web sites, as well as others. Most of their attacks are simple Denial of Service attacks and email hacks, or at least the ones for which they take credit. However, there are a number of other hacks that occurred against electric utilities, the New York Stock Exchange and other hacks that they may have been responsible for as well. These guys have the talent and intelligence to bring down an entire network, or steal billions of Dollars electronically if they wanted to. Wouldn't it be ironic if they hacked these people they are threatening and transferred all their money to some off-shore account that couldn't be traced but would fund a great non-profit like Doctors without Borders?

All their videos are that way. Electronically generated voice with extremely fuzzy pictures to prevent any identification of the person on the video, or they just put in a CGI character or icon.

They're hackers, not movie producers. As bad as they are at making movies, they as good at frigging up a computerized system that's connected in any potential way to the internet.

Right, but to REALLY change a people, to move them towards something (in this case, justice) they need a nice, clean, crisp delivery of the message. They need to SELL it.

IMHO, they're in the business of causing havoc for LOL's. If the issue can also be seen as a moral stance, then all the better to create LOL's.

Seems you could use some work. Maybe if you sent them a message, they would hire you? It isn't hard to get their attention.

Likely, ISIS will view anything Anonymous does as simply being an arm of the Great Satan, the United States. So any repercussions will be unfairly directed at the United States. In other words, the United States will get it both coming and going, but I suppose that's nothing new.

On the contrary. The US can attack all of these countries now and blame anonymous.

I don't NEED work, I just see something good that's worth the effort, in my opinion, to make great.

You'll have to explain to me why the United States would attack Qatar and Saudi Arabia, two allies of the US in the Middle East, and/or Turkey, a member of NATO.

To get information. Cyber attacks aren't just viruses and email bombs, spying is well within that realm as well.

Why did we tap the German PMs phone?

Even if just symbolic, its more than our chump-ass president would do. He's more worried about amnesty for 300,000 undocumented democrats.

As much as she dishes out, it'll be ok.

It's Anonymous, they don't really matter.

That might be like trying to explain why US presidents since Jimmy Carter (at least) have supported militant Islamic groups, only to fight them on the battle field, over and over again.
