The US has specific Threats against Entebbe International Airport. The US Embassy in Uganda is also on High alert. Also last month the US had discovered the Terrorists ISIL, Al Nusra, and AQAP all working to together on making some new bombs. Non-metallic and enough of a concern due to those in Europe and the US having passports that are fighting in Syria and for the Terrorists. US thinks al Nusra will try and go for a plane in Europe or going after the US. What say ye?

Extra security for US-bound travellers from Europe and the Middle East has been implemented at airports amid concerns from the US embassy in Uganda......

US-bound travellers from Europe and the Middle East have faced tighter airport security, due to fears that Muslim extremists are developing new explosives that could be slipped onto planes undetected.

The stepped-up security checks were ordered as the US embassy in Uganda warned of a "specific threat" to attack Kampala's Entebbe international airport on Thursday between 1800 and 2000 GMT (0400 and 0600 AEST Friday)

Although the embassy did not name any group, Al-Qaeda linked Shebab insurgents have claimed recent attacks in neighbouring Kenya and Djibouti, and at home in Somalia.....snip~

Its real but they aren't saying anything about any specific plot.....other then the threat on Entebbe. ABC is running with the story too.

US Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson announced the extra security on direct flights to the United States from some overseas airports on Wednesday, without citing evidence of any specific plot.

The move comes amid broader Western intelligence concerns that hundreds of Islamist radicals travelling from Europe to fight in the Middle East could pose a security risk on their return.

On Sunday, US President Barack Obama warned that "battle-hardened" Europeans who embrace jihad in Syria and Iraq threaten the United States because their passports mean they can enter without a visa.

The airports concerned are located in the Middle East and Europe and were targeted "based on real-time intelligence," according to an official at the Department of Homeland Security who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Britain confirmed it is bolstering security at its airports in response.....snip~

I'm very glad that I am not currently in Europe, facing the thought of returning home in the next few weeks, as I have mentioned to you previously. Since terrorists like to surprise people with their horrific actions, though, and since everyone seems to be on high alert, maybe they'll cancel their plans till a later time - although I don't see that happening any time soon, with everything bad accelerating in the ME! :2mad:

It's a prudent move and July 4th is a symbolic day in the US - we know that symbolic days are prime targets for terrorists as what better to darken a national holiday than with as many deaths and maimed screaming American's? I've heard that even domestically, travel June 3rd through the weekend will be higher than normal. My concern isn't so much plane travel but for the past 2 months our southern border has been wide open. Who's coming through? We don't know - and we're voluntarily shipping these people all over the US from the border.

Does no one see a problem there? How hard would it be to distribute 10, 20, 50 terrorists into South America - moles, low level, and have them work their way up through into the US? The unintended consequences of allowing such a huge hole in our borders makes taking over a plane, hijacking, underwear bombing... all that seem much too risky and difficult. Send them to South America and simply give them a plan to hit us from the inside after they're routed through - it's not like we're fingerprinting and using facial recognition software on these people and if they're new recruits willing to die for whatever cause affiliated with whatever terrorist group, it's would be rather easy.

Europeans object to the NSA's electronic communications intelligence collection, yet are more than happy to receive and act on the intelligence that it provides?
Hmm. Interesting.

Non-metallic undetectable bombs, so like the one that the terrorists were going to ship in a printer awhile back?

Now given the resources made available with the large land mass and population under terrorist control provide, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that their plans and attacks would get just that much more sophisticated and just that much more challenging to thwart.

Seems pretty much a Sunni Shiite secular conflict. If they kept this conflict to themselves, I believe the rest of the world would sit b and watch them slaughter each other. But seems they both want to drag the rest of the world into their conflict. I don't understand what's either side's advantage to gain the ire of the rest of the world and drag the rest of the world into this conflict? Surely they have seen how doing so the rest of the world sends their military forces. All I see from this is greater human toll from the Sunni's and the Shiites.

Greetings Polgara! :2wave:

Europe is in the terrorists target zone, that's for sure. Not only are the European nations geographically nearer and easier to get into, there's large populations of disaffected Muslim's in squalor enclaves made to be microcosms of the societies they've left behind in the Middle East. Just think how many disaffected reside in France. Yeah, the European nations not only have an external threat to worry about, seems they have a legitimate concern about Arab Springs within their own borders from their own enclaves, which are fed population by their own lax immigration laws. A glimpse of the US open borders future?

Mornin EB. :2wave: Reuters is saying the US told the Brits about Bomb threats. Bombs that can get thru screening Reuters is saying.

UK tightens airport security after U.S. warns of bomb concerns....

(Reuters) - Britain has stepped up security at airports after U.S. officials said they were concerned that al Qaeda operatives in Syria and Yemen were developing bombs that could be smuggled onto planes.

The United States requested tougher security at overseas airports with nonstop flights to its cities.

The request came as U.S. security sources said bombmakers from the Nusra Front, al Qaeda's affiliate in Syria, and Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula were believed to be working to develop explosives that could avoid detection by current airport screening systems.

The main concern is that militant groups could try to blow up U.S.- or Europe-bound planes by concealing bombs on foreign fighters carrying Western passports who spent time with Islamist rebel factions in the region, the U.S. sources said.....snip~

Yeah. Isn't the UK where these radicalized Muslim Clerics keep coming from? The UK has a pretty substantial disaffected population in their enclaves as well. Just not as populous as France, if I recall correctly.

Both France and the Brits.....they know there are Americans fighting for ISIS too. Now there is this threat against Entebbe to top it off. Moreover the Terrorists in Iraq are being held back from Mosul and Baghdad Airports. While last month we had the Taliban in Pakistan going for an Airport there. All within a matter of 30-45 days. Increased and apparent intentions.

Britain's Heathrow airport is the world's third busiest airport and the busiest in Europe, serving 191,200 passengers per day.....snip~

Ohh, I imagine that there are a few UK and French mixed in there with them as well.

From which to fly planes from, I'm guessing.

Imagine an explosive loaded airliner coming in for a regularly scheduled landing, on final approach, and veering off into a packed terminal. Could make a movie of that.

The opinions expressed by some on here seem to blame business for the problem of illegals - cheap labor. Well, with 30,000 to 40,000 illegals already here, how much more cheap labor could they possibly use? Besides, the numbers don't tally up, since we are providing food stamps and other assistance to those illegals! The real problem, IMO, is the lack of enforcement of our immigration laws by our government for political reasons, not business hiring! We could very well be facing problems - I think we already are, and it's going to get worse, if reports of the illnesses and diseases they are bringing with them are true! TB, Dengue fever, scabbies, malnutrition, and diabetes to name a few...give me a break! :2mad:

Happy July 4th, Eric! :2wave:

Happy July 4th to you as well!

Yeah, disease spread is a real problem. Last I read there were reports of TB and N1H1 being brought in by the child invasion. More unwanted fall out from the open border nonsense.

Chaps my ass that the administration was planning this all along, as the January RFQ for adult escorts of the children across the entire nation demonstrates.

Seems like something always happening whenever I'm flying. Coming to Europe it was the Malaysian flight, coming back its terrorists.

Yep.....I would rather see them being proactive and showing they are on the job. Although I didn't see if we were put on any higher alert status.

I read this morning BHO is going to be in Dallas and Austin in the near future for fundraising, but he doesn't see the need to visit the border, where all the problems he caused are occurring! Nice, huh? :2mad:

Typical from Obama. You were expecting anything different?

Has there been any other word about this threat to Europe and the US?

Not to my knowledge, but granted, I've been doing family 4th things (and other things), and haven't been looking for it.

Yeah.....it is the same for many. My sons wont be around and I don't have any to many other relatives around much anymore. Which as I have gotten older.....I don't mind working in the World of Print. Always working though and the News never stops.

No one in Europe is against basic intelligence sharing as this is a courtesy we also extend to the Americans. I think what people are more worried about is secret phone tapping of European leaders and civilians.

Yeah and we do the Same with the Brits Higgins. :2wave: Just like we gave them this info on al Nusra and AQAP with ISIL all working on new bombing techniques. Naturally we also let them know about the numbers generalized of Europeans that are fighting on the side of the Terrorists.

Note we still shared this intel.....despite the Absence at the table with the Europeans in dealing with the Terrorists who created their own State.

I wouldn't say that MMC European agencies work extensively to identify possible threats in Euope and for the most part have been very successful. UK for example have been very aggressive when dealing with potential threats within our own borders and know from experience that we give over **** loads of intel from our forward bases like Cyrpus etc.

Oh, I am not complaining about any Intel from the Brits.....I think they are up on more of it than most in Europe. Not to mention those SAS boys won't even hesitate to take out any known Terrorists. Which is the way it should be.

I just hope you guys will be able to Hold Cyprus to keep those feelers out.....and not get pushed out of there.

Will be interesting. I lived in their in 1999-2002 on a base called AY NIK which you wont find on many maps, at the time the base was a massive operating signals base and my father who was an officer used to meet with high ranking CIA etc monthly to disclose information and I used to see American spy places fly over on a regular basis. However pressure from the Cypriot government and budget cuts have scaled back the bases ( visited not long ago and half the base was a ghost town). However many Cypriots believe that our bases were the only think stopping the Turks march across the whole island in 1972 so I can see us staying their for the time being.
