Europe's Busiest Airports Boost Screening.....

Heya Maenad.

In 2007 Maenad.....Mexico busted 60 Afghans that tried to get into the US to make an attack on Fort Huachuca Ariz. They had shaved their Beards off.

In 2010 Sherriff Arpaio busted a fraud ring with Illegals working at Fort Huachuca. This base trains our Military Intel People.

Sheriff Joe hunts aliens working at Army intelligence post

Arpaio's detectives raided Valley View Building Services in central Phoenix today, searching for 25 people suspected of identity theft and fraud.

The company employs 100 people in three states and is contracted to clean newly constructed buildings at Fort Huachuca, an Army post located only 15 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border. At least one of the suspects had worked on the military installation.

The deputies took five women into custody today. Four are suspected illegal aliens arrested for identity theft and fraud. One is a U.S. citizen wanted with an outstanding warrant. "When we went in there, one of the ladies was hiding her Mexican I.D. in an enchilada, trying to conceal the identification," Arpaio said.....snip~

I know both are dark skinned and have dark hair, but in reality middle easterners and Mexicans don't look anything alike. Middle easterners have olive skin, and Mexicans have more reddish skin like native Americans. Also, Mexicans, many actually being indigenous, can have a fair amount of red in their hair even though it appears to be black. Facial features are different as well. I honestly believe I could tell an Afghani from a Mexican and not get it wrong most of the time.

Some more on this. ;)

US-bound airport security tightens amid worry about one bombmaker.....

Al Qaeda follower Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri has a talent for building hard-to-detect bombs, and now intelligence indicates that he has ties to an Islamist group whose members include Westerners – who don't need visas to travel to the US. Increased security measures for some European and Middle Eastern airports with direct flights to the United States, ordered by the US Wednesday, reflect heightened concerns about the talents of one particular terrorist – and the contacts he may have made with a particular subset of jihadist terrorists.

The individual the US is worried about is Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri, a Saudi-born Al Qaeda follower in Yemen whose particular talent is building hard-to-detect bombs – or perhaps even undetectable bombs.

The information that has the US ramping up security around US-bound flights is that Mr. Asiri may have established a working relationship with Jabhat al-Nusra, an Al Qaeda affiliate operating in Syria, according to some US counterterrorism officials. Jabhat al-Nusra is known to have welcomed hundreds of Westerners, and in particular Western European Muslims, into its ranks. That’s the subset of Al Qaeda-linked terrorists the US is increasingly worried about.....snip~

US-bound airport security tightens amid worry about one bombmaker

The Brits says travelers should start getting use to the measures this will not be a one time deal.

The combination of Asiri’s bombs and terrorists with Western European passports boarding flights to the US could be devastating, American counterterrorism officials and experts say.

I don’t think we should expect this to be a one-off temporary thing,” Britain's deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, told London’s LBC Radio. He suggested that travelers should get used to the new measures.

What has counterterrorism officials so worried is that enhanced airport security measures may not be keeping up with Al Qaeda’s advancing technical skills – and in particular with Asiri’s quest to develop a virtually undetectable bomb.

Asiri, who is affiliated with Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in Yemen, is believed to be behind efforts to build nonmetallic bombs that could be sewn into clothing (such as the underwear bomb) or implanted directly into a suicide bomber’s body. In one particularly chilling example of this technique, Asiri’s 23-year-old brother Abdullah tried in 2009 to assassinate Saudi intelligence chief Prince Muhammad bin Nayef by detonating a bomb that had been inserted into his body. The bomb exploded prematurely, and only Abdullah al-Asiri died in the attack.....snip~

Update: Now we are being told the reasons why and what is the major concern. There is no doubt we have raised the alert level. Otherwise we would not be threatening to ban flights from the US. If they do not comply with our requests. Looks like there is a serious viable threat.

Phones, shoes to face scrutiny as airport security tightened: U.S......

Airlines with direct flights to the United States have been told to tighten screening of mobile phones and shoes in response to intelligence reports of increased threats from al Qaeda-affiliated militant groups, U.S. officials said on Thursday.

The officials singled out smartphones including iPhones made by Apple Inc and Galaxy phones made by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd for extra security checks on U.S.-bound direct flights from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

U.S. security officials said they fear bombmakers from the Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) have figured out how to turn the phones into explosive devices that can avoid detection. They also are concerned that hard-to-detect bombs could be built into shoes, said the officials, who declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue. A U.S. official said that other electronic devices carried by passengers also are likely to receive more intense scrutiny.

Airlines or airport operators that fail to strengthen security could face bans on flights entering the United States, the officials said.....snip~

This is absolutely silly. Why on earth would terrorists still go after airplanes with smartphones? Why not just blow people up randomly if their phones are so dangerous? The whole communications network would grind to a halt, and that is far more damaging than blowing up an airplane.,.. not to mention far more spectacular and "terror"ish. I mean most people dont fly to the US, so this wont bother them one bit.. but having a ticking time-bomb in your hand, in your children´s hands... talk about terror.

Say what Pete.....absolutely silly, huh. Then why are they all doing this and say it will be measures that will be ongoing from now on?

Have you read the Thread.....did you pick up that part on AQAP.....ISIL.....and Al Nusra all working together on new type of Bomb packages.

Now did that part on placing a bomb live inside a human being.....just fall off to the wayside?

Can you figure out a how a Samrt phone or key chain remote can make this Dream of the Terrorists all come true.....yet?

Now did the light turn on?

Yes the fear mongering by media and officials has been well done. Oh and they have been working on new type of bomb packages for almost a decade.. The best ones are that British (insert random country) citizens are going to Syria and become radicalized... and it is funny that each country has 200 or so people going to Syria.. even Denmark. Well if you are going to Syria, then chances are that you already are freaking radicalized and aint that a bigger problem in the long run?

Now did that part on placing a bomb live inside a human being.....just fall off to the wayside?

That was done long ago, but not repeated other than in the tv series Covert Affairs ... why is that? It would be the perfect suicide bomber and could be deployed against multiple places that is hard to get into.

Can you figure out a how a Samrt phone or key chain remote can make this Dream of the Terrorists all come true.....yet?

Look.. smartphones have been around for 5ish years now and have had the ability to "blow up" since then. It is nothing new, and has in fact happened because of bugs and faulty chargers. Now the size of the explosion is minimal from what I understand, so you need something "extra" to increase the destruction.. and that means explosive.

Now did the light turn on?

The light has always been on, because that is why I doubt these stories as the government and its loyal media have had a bad habit of crying wolf and not coming with any evidence what so ever.

We had the shoe bomber.. a total failure, so no we cant have shoes on planes without them being checked. Annoying but okay.

We had the underwear bomber, so now we are basically strip-searched and yet our underwear are not checked? Hmmm.

We had threats of liquid bombs, so now we have to pay airlines extreme prices for drinks and have to buy toothpaste and other stuff when we get to our destination.

Like it or not travelling, especially to the US, has become hell on earth because of all of this. I saw a poll the other day, where 56% of people traveling to the US would not recommend their friends going there simply because of the airports.. so I ask again. Why would terrorists target airplanes when trains, cars and buses are totally open? A few car bombs here and there would create far more terror than an airplane. Plus there are airports world wide that have far laxer security and yet where are all the airplanes falling out of the sky?

Fact is that all this fear, is basically doing the terrorists job.

Well I guess I can agree with you there on the way the MS Media and the Government is handling the War on Terror. I did ask if ABC was doing the fear-mongering first since the Politicians had not responded and were just learning of what was going on.

Lets not forget the majority of US pols.....don't have a clue as to how things work outside of the Country.

Btw.....the other reason was due to this bomber almost taking out a Saudi prince, and using his own relative. The device blew prematurely. Which is the only reason the Saud wasn't killed.

The poll was of people (non US) travelling to the US into the major airports.

I was talking about Politicians not a poll, Pete. ;)

Also It was NBC's Richard Engel that brought it out with ABC.

With the partisan blame game over the current meltdown in Iraq consuming much of the media's attention, NBC News' chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel is reporting on the increased terrorism threat Americans face from ISIS radicals as they establish a stronghold in the crisis-stricken country. Engel -- who was kidnapped and released in Syria in 2012 -- tweeted a series of disquieting assessments from US national security sources (via Noah Rothman):

Engel's sources say that roughly 70 American nationals have taken up arms with ISIS in the region over the course of the violent unrest, with about a dozen "currently active:" McClatchy reported last week that thousands of Europeans have joined the jihad in Syria, and now Iraq -- worrying counter-terrorism officials, who call the 'tourism terrorism' numbers "unprecedented:"

At least 320 Germans and more than 2,000 other Europeans are thought to have made the trip -- so many that last week Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erodgan asked European nations to stop their citizens wanting to join the fight in Syria and now Iraq from traveling to Turkey...European Union Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove this month noted that the phenomenon of young Muslims leaving Europe to fight elsewhere is decades old. But the current numbers dwarf previous migrations. He described the current flow as “huge.” “Compared to previous jihads, it’s unprecedented,” he said. The trend is openly discussed in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Italy. Europe has long needed immigrant labor, but it has done little to integrate those who come from Muslim regions--North Africa, Pakistan and the Middle East. Their children often grow up without close ties to their adopted nations and end up finding a sense of community online and in the radical splinters of Islam set up to prey upon the lost.....snip~

UPDATE: New Airport Security Measures will target Electronic Devices.

Electronics to be scrutinized under new TSA security measures......

Power it up, or leave it behind. The Transportation Security Administration said Sunday that security screeners at overseas airports may ask U.S.-bound passengers to turn on their electronic devices to prove they work and aren't explosive devices. They won't allow devices without power on board planes. The traveler may then undergo additional screening.

It's part of an update to security measures aimed at combating potential new threats from terrorists in the Middle East and Europe.

"This is not something to overreact to or over-speculate about," he said.

The effort does not involve changes to what travelers can take aboard flights. But passengers may see additional inspections of shoes and electronics, additional use of scanners designed to detect trace amounts of explosives, and another stage of screening at boarding gates, in some cases, the official said.....snip~
