In a conversation with New York Times Magazine on Wednesday, he criticized the melodramatic nature of the reporters he faced off against, going so far as to wonder what value the White House Press Corps has at all.

“It can be surreal at the podium when you go down that front row and you have an exchange with one of the reporters in which there's very emotional — maybe even theatrical — presentation and back and forth, and then you go to the next reporter and you have the same thing, as if the first one didn't happen at all,” he said. “You begin to wonder how valuable a service to the nation that is in the end.”

“If you look at the difference in tenor between the on-camera briefings and the on-the-record-but-off-camera gaggles, it's night and day.”

I haven't made any decisions about what combination of things I'm going to be doing,” Carney said. “I'm not going to go back to being a journalist full time
you pretty much blew any credibility to go back there again...

much like you nothingness " I refer you to" non answers have no value

Good, it's about time. They've been little but jokes for as long as I can remember paying attention. Usually three questions, over and over and over from each partisan side. So even if twenty are called on, the most you can hope for is that six usually incredulous, emotion-laced, presumptive questions are answered.

Its like you are trying to support every authoritarian measure by this chump president and his flying monkeys.

No, I'd like a press corpse to do it's job. Not get stuck on the same question over and over, particularly one's that only serve their network's agenda and do not appear to serve any other purpose.

BTW, if that's what you got from my post, you have reading comprehension issues.

you'd have to give an example, but it's more trying to dig out anything other then the spin or lack of info provided by the administration.

"press secretary" is a misnomer, it's more diversion/deflections of legitimate questions

Please feel free to watch some, I'm sure they are online somewhere. I'm here to opine about what I've seen, not waste my time trying to educate those that resist information contrary to their pundit masters.

so is that a Carney "I refer you to" example of an answer?

Are you just heckling people responding to the OP or do you have some sort of links to provide that are on topic, since you seem to think links are important to proving an opinion, where are the links to prove your perception/opinion, apparently, that the press corps is worthwhile?

And you didn't ask me a question, you demanded an exertion of time and energy to do something for you that you can do yourself.

the OP is Carney excoriating the press corp for "emotional, theatrical, back and forth." My take on it is the press corp is treated like a bothersome nuisance the administration has to deal with.
Continuously side stepping the questions with contempt for the truth is poorly portrayed as righteous indignation,

I actually read the whole article. He comes off as a guy just telling people what his job was like and some of the frustrations. And not surprising is the GOPers can not understand that.

Carney makes "Baghdad Bob" seem reasonable.

Carney views his job:

What I really reject — and would have rejected as a reporter covering this place — is this notion that whether a reporter is successfully doing his job depends on information he is being handed through the front door from the White House
I can only read that (OP link) that press secretary's briefings are not noteworthy enough for a reporter to use as a story.

I agree but for a different reason that the information wasn't given to be reported, as much as to placate the reporters. Pro forma briefings as it were.

And your links to prove this are.......? Like I said, you only goal is to heckle those observations don't suit the rhetoric your pundit masters feed you.

So you're incensed because he won't talk out his ass about things he's not informed on? Lions, and tigers, and bears, Oh MY! He's the Whitehouse Press Secretary, not the Press Secretary for China, or the Pentagon, or.... any of the other places journalists should be going for accurate answers to those questions. The idiocy of having numerous people ask the question that's already been referred to other and more direct information when it's clear he's not going to say anything else is stupid, I believe there's even a saying about stupid being continually doing the same thing and expecting a different result. So they are stupid, lazy because they want Jay Carney, or whomever the press secretary is, to do their investigative work for them. F' that. Like I said to start with and your video only proves me true, Jay Carney is right, the White House Press Corps are a bunch of partisan clowns, with few exceptions, who are also lazy and stupid.

there is some validity to carney's criticisms. the chasing the same soccer ball down the field metaphor rings true, as a number of reporters seem not to have as much of a desire to report political insights as they do to generate a 'gotcha' moment
but my sense is the biggest problem was jay carney's substantial liability. to be most effective in that presidential spokesmodel position, he must be both the smartest guy in the room, and show up with a command of the facts. he wasn't. he didn't

Right  because that worked so well for say... Susan Rice who repeated what the other agencies were telling was most likely, and everyone was soooo happy about that. But of course, righties complain no matter what choices are made by anyone in this administration or anyone to the left of Putin.

Yeah, like ask the president real questions, vice licking his ass?

If Carney has done that, a significant portion of the regime would be in prison by now.

i believe it is safe to say susan rice failed to show up armed with the facts necessary to be an effective spokesperson
like jay

She came with the facts she was given by the agency, but instead of going after the agency, everyone went after her, then Carney who wisely says, go to the horse's mouth for those answers, be the horse the CIA, the Pentagon, China, etc, y'all bitch anyway. I stand by my remark that y'all will bitch like drama queens no matter what any one in the administration does, even if it mirrors perfectly or bests what Republicans in the same position have done in the past.

show up with answers, and no referral is needed
his inclination to offer mere referral instead of answers to the questions gives the appearance he is inadequately informed and/or hiding something
