BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Buying Scandal | RedState

I was like this now you know, I worked very hard for Thad, and I got close to some people that in trouble in the loop and were doing some things that I witnessed and know about and threw money to people for it, that I know that’s against ethics and all of that, and ah, I’m supposed to get paid on the back end and I didn’t and then I said how many times do I have to get burned by people in politics that um you know say after the votes counted say “hey” and it don’t come, this is what they do, so, You all had your reasons for not liking what happened, I had my reason that was the pay, and um, like

Knowing what it would take to hand the district to him because he couldn’t stand up behind the allegations of proof that I would put out, um he would have to turn the district loose. I mean That’s all there is to it. You know I mean you don’t just throwin things out there that I don’t think nobody would frown if a person paid black people 15 dollars a vote to vote, you know what I’m saying. You know I, you let me know what you feel about it as we discuss it.

INTERVIEWER: you said you DON’T think that anybody would frown on it?

FIELDER: I said I DO think.

INTERVIEWER : I do too. I don’t think that that’s right.

Later

INTERVIEWER: So when you say 15 dollars per person to vote, how does that happen? What does that look like?

(Fielder shows interviewer text received from Saleem Baird)

Fielder : That’s just a text from one of the workers to me. Just scroll down now. Have to go through some things. ____ back up. And that was carried out numerous times. That’s basically 20 people times 15, that’s 300 dollars, a small scale they needed 10,000 votes, black votes, to make sure, that ah, that they would have enough to beat, ah, Chris.

The Interview

Cochran camp buying votes in the election?

Where's my popcorn?

if true, it's pretty damned heinous and corrupt.

we'll see how it pans out over the next few days... i'm sure there are alot of folks who will be diggin' into it.

Where's my popcorn?

Gee, southern black Democrats selling their votes - I'm shocked, shocked.

Kind of reminds me of the Obama voters all excited because they were getting an Obama phone or Obama was gonna pay their rent.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

Search Cochran voting fraud and the day after the election the conservative blogs were calling it a fraudalnat electin.
Oy Vey!

Your original claims in regards to this discovery/allegation/claim.

Is anyone in the media world taking these claims seriously other than conservative blogs?
Just saying since once Cochran won the election McDaniel supporters were screaming left and right fraud, and they were the only ones screaming this and just about the only people reporting this were conservative blogs.

The original claims of fraud you refer to had a basis in the asking of dems to vote against McDaniel.
Those claims have been supported by the double primary voting. ANd yes, they were all over the blogosphere.

And while this is a further claim of fraud, your comments toward it, were that of being ignorant of the the actual claim and the evidence surrounding it.
This is a separate event/claim that was new, which is why it is breaking and why it hadn't been reported at the time, nor had it been all over the conservative blogs at the time of your comment either.

Yes, if true.

This Rev Fielder though has been involved with corruption before.
So how honest is he? Or is he the go-to-guy for such corruption?

If those emails are true, this is an actual event.
But it still may not be directly connected to Cochran.
What I mean by that is; Yes he requested support from dems to win the primary and contracted out to do that, but had no idea that they were going to use fraudulent actions to get those dems to turn out.

As far as I am concerned though, it should disqualify him regardless.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

Kind of ironic. The Conservatives are always yelling "voter fraud" and if this is true, it certainly is voter fraud committed by Conservatives.

That is a weird take. Especially as it was the Dems doing it.

If the story is true then it was the Conservatives that were buying votes.

So support your assertion and show, that if true, he intended for the hired Dems not to be honest in getting folks to vote?
I am sure you can't.

If he didn't know what they were up to, as in how they were going to do it, this is just Dems acting normally like Dems.

If the Rev. is telling the truth, that scenario above is impossible. His interactions were repeatedly with the Cochran campaign itself, Saleem Baird, who handed him the cash to distribute, allegedly, to voters. Saleem Baird, with the Cochran campaign, allegedly personally delivered the envelopes to the Rev. already stuffed with the cash. At other times, the Rev. said he went to Cochran's campaign offices to get that cash. The Rev. said he was promised a fee from the Cochran campaign to deliver that cash to individual voters.

If your scenario is true, almost everything of substance the Rev. said on the interview is a lie. You can't believe ANY of the Rev's story, and also believe the Cochran campaign didn't direct the vote buying.

What is kind of funny is if the Rev. is telling the truth, he's one of the more incompetent con artists around. What kind of criminal distributes $5-10,000 in an obviously illegal vote buying scheme, agrees to condition his fee on Cochran winning the election, and/or (it's not entirely clear) agrees to collect his entire fee for directing a criminal conspiracy on the back end, after he's done all the work that if proved could land him in jail?

If it is true it would be the Cochran camp and Democrat operatives conspiring to buy Democrat votes.

What the initial claimant got wrong is that this wouldn't be "conservatives" involved in the voter fraud since the Conservative in the primary was McDaniel.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

If the Rev. is telling the truth, that scenario above is impossible.
No. Any number of variations makes it possible.
You are assuming that Cochran knew what Saleem was doing.

You are assuming that Saleem was acting at the direction of Cochran, when he very well may have been acting on behalf of an outside force.

If your scenario is true, almost everything of substance the Rev. said on the interview is a lie. You can't believe ANY of the Rev's story, and also believe the Cochran campaign didn't direct the vote buying.
Says you. Until there is a direct connection established between an order/direction from Cochran to Saleem, the above can apply.

I can be the devils advocate here and argue their side as nothing has been proven. Especially as the text messages appear to be from one called Saleen and another called Saleem.

But like I said; "As far as I am concerned though, it should disqualify him regardless."

Especially as it has been reported that there is currently over 3300 irregularities (dual votes) with less than half the counties counted.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

No. Any number of variations makes it possible.
You are assuming that Cochran knew what Saleem was doing.

Well, yes, I'm tying an official of the campaign to the candidate. That's a fair assumption, but unless Cochran was an idiot, there wouldn't be a smoking gun anywhere, and likely he'd be 3 steps removed or more with a person in that link that will fall on his sword for Cochran.

But what you said was this: "this is just Dems acting normally like Dems." And that's just wrong, as Saleem was directing the dems, paying them directly, etc. It would be republican party operatives working for Cochran who were bribing corruptible democrats to commit voter fraud.

And no it isn't.
If Dems didn't act like that, then there would be no one to fraudulently buy a vote from. And if true, then the Dem voter was selling their vote they cast to a Dem - The Rev.
Which is "Dems acting normally like Dems."

If that is what happened, and if that is what was intended by Saleem, and if he did interact with the Dem who already suffers from fraud in his background.
Just to many damn "ifs" to make any judgement at this time.

And tying Cochran to it just because the person was in his camp is absurd without any evidence of his direct involvement.

You have no idea if Cochran is involved in this aspect. It could be Saleem acting without his knowledge or on behalf of another.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

Is anyone in the media world taking these claims seriously other than conservative blogs?

No. But look at it this way - if they weren't doing this, they might be doing something really dangerous.

And so GOPers acting like GOPers is fraudulently buying votes? OK. I guess we can agree. Both sides and all that!

And tying Cochran to it just because the person was in his camp is absurd without any evidence of his direct involvement.

No, I don't have any direct knowledge that Cochran was involved, but as far as I'm concerned the burden shifts to Cochran to prove he didn't have knowledge of an illegal vote buying scheme running openly out of his campaign offices.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

You do not know that to be true.
All we have is a self incriminating information from a dem who has been involved in fraud in the past.
In other words; - A dem acting like a dem.

No, I don't have any direct knowledge that Cochran was involved, but as far as I'm concerned the burden shifts to Cochran to prove he didn't have knowledge of an illegal vote buying scheme running openly out of his campaign offices.
He has no such burden. Nor do you know if there was a buying scheme out of his office.

You're hilarious. You sooo want to condemn democrats and apologize for the GOP that you're willing to believe the Rev. is telling the truth about buying votes for Cochran, but want to disregard the key part of that story that directly implicates the Cochran campaign, and/or GOP operatives working for Cochran.

He has no such burden. Nor do you know if there was a buying scheme out of his office.

Like I said, if you believe the Rev's story, there WAS a vote buying scheme being run out of his offices. He says he went there to pick up cash, and that Saleem delivered the cash in envelopes directly to him in the field. What part is true and what part is false. Do you think democrats in Mississippi woke up one morning and decided to start buying votes for a GOPer, just because he's a good guy? Did this cash just fall out of the sky?

Are you saying that it's ok to buy votes but not ok for the bought voters to actually vote. Or are you just trying to whitewash the fact that the Conservatives committed voter fraud? Which is it?

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

The Conservative in this primary was McDaniels, not Cochran.

Conservative, Republican, Tea Party... they're all GOP, no difference. Unless and until the conservatives and Tea Party get the intestinal fortitude to form their own party they will forever be GOP.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

Just FWIW, I think the Rev. is full of it, and I don't care at all which far right winger represents Mississippi. Mainly because I don't know any self respecting con man who would agree to take his fee for a criminal conspiracy on the back end, AFTER he's done all the work and risked jail doing it. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he's not that dumb.

What it looks like is the Cochran campaign DID hire people in the black community to get out the vote, they've admitted all that and it was clearly a big part of his win. But he's talking about handing out envelopes of cash to hundreds of people, personally, and thousands more across the state. That's just not something that should be hard to prove, especially if you're a 'journalist' willing to pay for a story.

Re: BREAKING: New Allegations Point to Cochran Campaign in Mississippi Senate Vote Bu

Your ignorant inability to see the difference does not equal hypocrisy on the part of the people who actually know the difference.
