Georgia Man Shoots Himself In (censored), Doesn't Notice

How in the hell could you shoot yourself in the dick, with an exit wound in the buttocks, and not freaking notice it? That is a pretty unbelievable story.

Nerve Damage?? I'm not sure, but this is quite interesting.... I do feel sorry for the man's Johnson... poor chap.

The only nerve damage to that extent would likely be severe neuropathy from long years of diabetes, or from some type of paralytic disorder, in which case he wouldn't be walking around. Maybe it was just a surface abrasion of some type, but it's still hard to believe that he could have shot deep enough to have a buttock exit wound and not be in significant pain.

I injured my dick once, so bady that it had to be stiched. Worst thing about it was that the stiches ripped open the next morning due to "morning wood" as a result of which I got pills preventing me from having an errection, the most terrible thing I was ever on.

Anyway, the pain of having your dick even slightly ripped open is horrid, so horrid..... the pain..... you cant imagine. So I dont buy "didn`t notice".

I had a patient once who accidentally shot herself in the stomach, but didn't notice she was wounded, then went to the workplace of her boyfriend and tried to shoot him. I think in her case, she was psychotic and sensory input to her brain was altered due the psychosis. If you look at PET scans of psychotic people, sensory areas of the brain are often not functioning. Many will describe themselves as feeling 'dead like wood' or they will claim entire body parts are completely missing because they can't feel them.

It was likely he was in a psychotic state.
 
When I first moved back to Georgia that was what amused me most, the gun stores. I am still planning to paint the African American woman who is paid to stand with a rudimentary sign in front of a gun shop that merely says "Guns and Ammo", which she stands looking stoic while holding out to traffic.

I'm kind of curious about where he was wearing his holster. Seems kind of weird to carry a 1911 anywhere near your crotch.

Yeah, the second most painful moment in my life was getting shot in the penis whilst paint balling. That was bad enough.

Still if your brain cells are sufficiently poor that you go around putting a gun into your trouser belt then your nerve cells might be made of the same stuff.

Pretty soused, would be my guess.
 
I've heard that people and animals sometime won't feel the pain of a gunshot, because of the sudden endorphin dump masks the pain.

The context I'd hear of it was in large, dangerous animals like buffalo where supposedly if you didn't kill them with your first shot, they wouldn't feel the pain from any following shots, and continue to be dangerous for some time.

Apparently it varies between people and situations, as some people die from shock from minor gunshot wounds, and others survive multiple hits.
