So Rand Paul called Cheney an evil war profiteer

And they're huge employers regardless of whether there's a war on or not. I'm very familiar with the way the DoD works, I've been part of the evil MIC since I was 21.

We are fully aware of that and also know it is the reason that you cannot see the woods because the trees are in the way. Without War, they will not be big employers and that is what they fear. No management paychecks and bonuses. Easy, start a war anywhere. Known as business promotion and every Corporation promites its' business interests. It is also the reason they gin up wars and nothing could be more obvious, except perhaps the sun coming up in the East.

I'm not a Libertarian, I'm a Conservative and the Constitution strictly states that our Government should provide for the Common defense.

I'm also a Capitalist, who understands the benefits of the Free market system over a Centrally planned economy.

Kicking the private Contractors out of the Defense business based on platitudes and false narratives like " the Military Industrial Complex " would be foolish beyond comprehension.

We are a Super Power because of the innovation that grows out of our free market economy and out of our Defense Contractors ability to seek out profits in a Competitive market.

And I haven't and never would recommend that action. Goodness, you're a conservative, you understand incentives. Do you think the incentives don't matter, or matter everywhere BUT war? Come on, be reasonable.

War for profit ? Plueeze....

Its a incredibly naive assessment of the overall human condition to think that Corporate profits are what motivates men to war.

Sheesh, it's realistic assessment of the history of mankind.

Try digging into a History book and not putting the cart before the horse and realize that Man needs little incentive to kill his neighbors.

EXACTLY, and power and money (different sides of same coin) provide plenty of incentives, especially when, as now, the people making those decisions aren't risking life or limb, and in the VAST majority of the cases, no one they KNOW is risking life and limb.

The USSR wasn't motivated by '' corporate profits " to invade Afghanistan or to start and perpetuate a Cold war with us.

It's my view that when groups that wield enormous power profit from taking a certain action, the $10s or $100s of billions in profits provide an undeniable incentive to take that action, and it's not relevant what that action is - war, trade agreements, regulations, whatever. If you disagree, believe financial incentives do NOT matter and have NO effect on decisions to go to war, war is somehow immune from the powerful effect of $100s of billions in financial incentives, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

This is a few months old, but wow, I've never seen a Republican tear into another Republican like this. Rand Paul goes a step further than most liberals and says that Cheney orchestrated the Iraq War so that Haliburton could reap the profits. I'm a bit out of the loop. Is Rand Paul a mainstream Republican, or is he a fringe crazy?

Even a blind pig sometimes finds a corn cob.

More proof that those who know they have no chance of winning are the most free to be honest about the system.
