Reportedly the ISIS has seized control of Saddam Hussein's best chemical weapons plant and it STILL has stockpiles of Sarin, VX, and mustard gas.

What happened what we've been hearing about for 12 years about "Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq".

Now, you can say "oh they're old" (20 years plus).

Who gives a damn. Lots of old weapons still work fine. The U.S. was using bombs built in WW2 during the Vietnam War.

The U.S. was firing 16 inch gun rounds from the Iowa class battleship forty years later in Desert Storm.

At any rate, supposedly, Iraq had NO WMDs which means NO CHEMICAL WEAPONS. And in fact supposedly had NO ABILITY to build them.

Lots of people owe Bush/Cheney a big apology.
Of course he had chemical weapons he only used them on the Kurds....

Democrats WANT you to believe Saddam didn't because a) they love totalitarian dictators and b) hated Bush.

The whole Iraq debate had absolutely NOTHING to do with weather or not Saddam had WMD's and everything to do with politics.

People (or at least the idiots) forget the entire war would have never been funded if congress didn't vote repeatedly to fund it. Every member of Congress (including the libertarians or "3rd party") damn well knew Saddam had WMD's - that was never the issue - the issue was weather or not US intervention was ethical or needed.

You see had Obama invaded Iraq there would be overwhelming support by democrats. You see it's not about what is right and wrong it's about politics and which party does what.

We invaded Iraq - Obama pulled out and now the place has gone to anarchy. It's that simple.

Why? because a bunch of progressives didn't want us there.... Yeah well, it was too late the second we invaded Iraq.

There were only two options a) let Saddam continue to commit crimes against humanity or b) invade Iraq and let his own people murder his ass... After that the solution would be to hold and control Iraq for 20 years....

BTW, Saddam (and his sons) were just as sadistic as Hitler.

there was also a lot of talk about Iraq possessing yellow cake uranium.
    It wasn't just talk:

The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program — a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium — reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.

The removal of 550 metric tons of "yellowcake" — the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment — was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam's nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.

Exactly how many chemical weapons was Saddam Hussein supposed to be allowed to keep and in what condition?

Even degraded chemical weapons can be very dangerous.

Do you honestly think that one warehouse containing weapons -- most likely donated to Iraq by the US to fight Iran -- was good enough reason to:

    1) Invade a country
    2) Spend 7+ Billion dollars
    3) Loss of 100,000+ lives
    4) Cause a country to be on the brink of civil war
    5) Create tons more animosity towards the West

Seriously, do you think it was worth it?

Cheney et al. are lucky they are not rotting in prison, and you want an apology? How ****ed up is that!

You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody OK?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.”

What I don't understand is why folks are surprised. We knew that Saddam still had Sarin back in 2004, which was also the year that it leaked that we had secretly found and removed 2 tons of enriched uranium and roughly 1,000 highly radioactive sources" that "could potentially be used in a radiological dispersal device," or dirty bomb. That's part of what made the simplistic "bush lied people died" chants so annoyingly vapid.
    Apparently....:

Subject: STABILITY OF IRAQ'S CW STOCKPILE

    DESPITE THE GENERAL SOPHISTICATION OF

    IRAQ'S CW PRODUCTION INFRASTRUCTURE,

SOME OF IRAQ'S CHEMICAL AGENTS HAD A

SHORT SHELF LIFE, MOSTLY OWING TO IMPURITIES

IN THE PRECURSOR CHEMICALS. CIA BELIEVES

THAT SOME SARIN HAD A SHELF LIFE OF ONLY A

    FEW WEEKS.
CIA HOLDS THAT THE STOCKS OF SARIN MAY

REMAIN VIABLE WELL BEYOND MARCH. CIA

ANALYSTS BELIEVE THAT THE SHELF LIFE PROBLEM

WAS ONLY TEMPORARY AND THAT THE IRAQIS

CAN NOW PRODUCE UNITARY AGENTS OF

SUFFICIENT QUALITY BY ADDING A STABILIZER OR

    IMPROVING THE PRODUCTION PROCESS.
Apparently Iraq's capabilities for sarin gas storage were only a few weeks at best. All I could find.

I have stuff in my fridge that's 'very dangerous'. Is that how low the bar is set to justify an invasion?

The actual quote: "America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud."

The Democrats attacked the president as if that was a definitive statement and poor them, they had been fooled. Especially that fat SOB Ted Kennedy. He did more damage than anyone. There was no definitive accusation in that statement and the Democrats have lied their asses off about it for over a decade.

there was also a lot of talk about Iraq possessing yellow cake uranium.
For a decade Saddam played Clinton like a flute denying access to UN weapons inspectors.

All of these weapons were in material breach of the cease fire Saddam signed in order to save his ass in 1991.

I read them and Bush said no such thing. What he did say in his book was that none were found. Perhaps what ISIS actually just captured was a very large shipment of Pringles potato chips?
