From Hans Blix (the head of U.N. weapons inspections in Iraq before Iraq invasion):

'However, suspicions are one thing and reality is quite another. U.N. inspectors were asked to search for, report and destroy real weapons. As we found no weapons and no evidence supporting the suspicions, we reported this. But U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfield dismissed our reports with one of his wittier retorts: "The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."

Rumsfeld's logic was correct, I believe, but it was no excuse for the American and British governments to mislead themselves and the world, as they did, by giving credit to fake evidence or assuming that if weapons items were "unaccounted for" that they must exist. They did not exist.
We inspected many hundred of sites, including dozens that had been suggested to us by various governments' national intelligence organizations. In a few cases we found conventional weapons -- but no weapons of mass destruction.'

    Neocon lovers and Bush fans?

Hey you do realize CONGRESS funded the war in Iraq right? That means democrats too. The only ones opposed to going into Iraq were libertarians and those who leaned libertarian. BOTH DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS VOTED TO FUND THAT WAR.

So don't sit here and pretend this was a republican war against Iraq because it wasn't even close to that - it was a bi-partisan war.

You progressives are either arrogant or just ignorant...

"Militants who have advanced across large swaths of Iraq in the past week seized a complex that was once Saddam Hussein’s top chemical-weapons production facility.

The facility still contains a stockpile of old weapons, but they are contaminated and hard to transport, and officials don’t believe the militants could make a chemical weapon out of them, the Wall Street Journal reports. In the aftermath of the U.S. invasion a decade ago, the U.S.-impaneled Iraq Study Group determined that the facility was sufficiently dismantled and that the remaining chemicals were useless."

All unuseable and if we are going to try to be apologists for the Bush regime even the Bush admin admitted there were known in Iraq.

What the hell do you know about chemical weapons? furthermore you're assuming these "militants" are a bunch of idiots that don't know what they're doing.

Spoken like a true progressive, Ayers is a ****ing genius and these "militants" are morons.

You better believe they have individuals in their ranks that know how to handle that crap - if you don't then you're a adifohjasdfoijasdo;fjado;sfjasdfjo;asj.

They weren't even looking for yellow cake - they just found it. They were looking for chemical weapons which I suppose the wrong people found NOW.

BTW the "weapons inspectors" were either sympathetic to Saddam or epic idiots.

Are you saying the US military is wrong about those weapons?

Because that's the part that you right-wingers don't seem to get. It's not liberals saying these aren't usable weapons. It's the frigging Pentagon.

    BS
U.S. Secretly Takes Yellowcake From Iraq - CBS News

Tuwaitha and an adjacent research facility were well known for decades as the centerpiece of Saddam's nuclear efforts.

Israeli warplanes bombed a reactor project at the site in 1981. Later, U.N. inspectors documented and safeguarded the yellowcake, which had been stored in aging drums and containers since before the 1991 Gulf War. There was no evidence of any yellowcake dating from after 1991, the official said.

U.S. and Iraqi forces have guarded the 23,000-acre (9,300-hectare) site - surrounded by huge sand berms - following a wave of looting after Saddam's fall that included villagers toting away yellowcake storage barrels for use as drinking water cisterns.
It was known about and guarded until being shipped to Canada.

I don't care about Bush...... I knew Saddam was a danger before the war and I knew he had chemical and biological weapons.

You're trying to play politics and I'm using my ****ing head here....
