BBC News - F1 legend Michael Schumacher 'out of coma'

F1 champion Michael Schumacher has left hospital in Grenoble and is no longer in a coma, his family says.

The 45-year-old has been transferred to Lausanne university hospital in Switzerland, officials there say.

Schumacher was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on 29 December

I'm glad. It's good to see him back to the world of the living. I watched F1 when I was a kid and he and Webber and a few more names that I remember are the things that stuck with me. He has a very resounding name :)

Good for him.

I wish him the best on his road to recovery. Tough times that's for sure. There's not a lot of information relating to the extent of his injuries but i imagine his struggles are only just beginning.

Glad to hear he is out of the coma. Hope his road to recovery is quick.

On a related note Multiple Olympic swimming gold medalist amy van Dyken suffered a severed spine in an ATV accident

its tough seeing athletic gods and goddesses crippled like that

This was good news to hear, wishing all the best to him on his recovery and family.

That's what it sounds like. From what I've read while he's no longer in a coma they're still trying to figure out how "there" he really is.

Tragic - while it's good he's still not in a coma, coming out of a coma after so long is usually an introduction to a very different life. My cousin was in a coma for two months and never fully recovered. He's living a full life, though, at a long term care facility.
