Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’[W:202]

Re: Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’

I would say no, he's not particularly honest or trustworthy, which separates him from 99% of the schmucks in Washington ... not at all.

On this we agree. I would have to wrack my brain and smoke at least a half dozen doobs to come up with the name of a politician I think is "honest" and "trustworthy". And even then, 1 jar of Marshmallow Fluff later, I still probably wouldn't have a name.

Re: Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’

You're kidding, right? Winning the MVP is quite different from someone believing that someone should win the MVP. Similar to Obama winning the award this year and someone BELIEVING that he should have won the award other years.

It wasn't my analogy, but I'm not uncomfortable with playing it out. The MVP award, like Politifact's Lie of the Year, is a subjective award not something facts based. It's similar to Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 simply because he was breathing. All three are political in nature.

I think Bernie Sanders is mostly honest. I always thought Ron Paul was mostly honest, even if I barely agreed with him on anything. Those are the only two that immediately come to mind.

Re: Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’

some of us don't have metoric expectations of our elected officals, but Obama gave us somthing 2008 that we as a nation badly needed: an renewal of hope.

Which was not all that different than what was needed in 1980 when Reagan came along. Yes, I realize Obama promised hope (and change) but sadly, he delivered neither. Hope and change aren't exactly strong platforms.

Eh, politics sucks ass sometimes.

Re: Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’

Mkay.

I love how offhandedly pointing out a minor quibble with one of Born Free's posts has taken this thread in an ... interesting direction.

You made the analogy - I'm just playing along.

Re: Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’

In reading the link you provided, it does seem like someone other than you, your family, and your doctor will decide whether or not you meet the criteria for life-extending treatments. Perhaps "death panels" was not the best choice of words to use, but they seem apt, because if a group of strangers decides you do not qualify - using their guidelines - you will probably not be given treatment, and you will doubtless die.

Greetings, CJ. :2wave: Great weather here - hope you are enjoying same!

Re: Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’

No one could be worse than these idiot Dem liberals. Like I said my Dog could do a better job than those idiots. But hey you stay with those idiot liars, lead from behind, scandalous Dems.

Your dog could do better than any of the conservatives, but hey, you stay with those idiot liars. Btw... I'm not a Democrat, but blind partisans usually just assume that if someone disagrees with them, that person must be on the other side, rather than actually examining their own positions.

Funny you should mention Bernie. I can't stand the man (I'm sure you can figure out why ;)) but I admire his honesty. He's a socialist. He admits it proudly. He doesn't mince words, he doesn't bull****. I can't vote for him, but I do respect his honesty.

Okay you mentioned two I can agree with. Thank you for saving me the trouble of doobs and Fluff tonight.

FDR brought hope back to america when it was facing one of the worst crisis in history. he may not have fully ended the great depression, but today he is remembered as one of the greatest presidents of all time.

I was referring to further back in the thread than that.

Not by me, but I know others think he was a great President. I think he was one of the worst. IMO he wanted us to get into WWII, and that was one of the worst, most horrible things in our history.

Re: Gallup: Majority Says Obama Not ‘Honest and Trustworthy’

I'll remember that the next time you get on someone for using Media Matters as a source. :tomato:

I don't get on posters for using Media Matters as a source - I do, frequently, tease Pete about being Media Matters' DP agent since he's constantly posting articles from them, but I do post to the content, not the source. And I don't recall ever posting a WND article before this one, so it's not as if I'm tied to them - but the content seems to challenge your contention that the concept of "death panels" in the ACA is false.

We've been referring to them as "insurance companies" for quite some time.

So, if it's subjective, your opinion of who should have won "Lie of the Year" is as subjective, and therefore relevant, as Politifact's, correct? Which of course means that your opinion that he should have won the award in other years has as much value as Politifact's opinion that he shouldn't, right?

Ron Paul was pretty honest and stayed consistent as well.

I never had an insurance company EVER deny me coverage for anything.

I deal with this every day, polgara. They are called insurance company case managers and they use the guidelines of their COMPANY and often do not care what the provider says... the one actually treating the patient.

Then you've been fortunate. I am a healthcare provider, and I've seen insurance companies deny coverage more times than I can count.

Nor have I. Maybe I'm lucky, but it's never happened to me nor to anyone I know.

john they cannot admit to the fact that death panels are in the obummercare bill. that would mean that Fox news and other sources DID NOT LIE, and they have worked so hard to try and portray anyone that is anti obama is a liar and rayciss.

So you're saying that you see insurance companies honoring coverage for procedures that are disclosed as being covered for some people, and just arbitrarily denying the same procedure for other people with the same insurance?

they should be sued for fraud, oh how convenient your a healthcare provider and you denied them coverage. Why were you so greedy?

What are you TALKING about??? I didn't deny them coverage. I argued with the insurance company who denied them coverage. Please READ my posts before responding.

And that's terrific for you. A great many people have.
