If they decide that it is not medically necessary (and how they would do this what with my information and no evaluation of their own) they can say, "no, we are not going to cover that". Example: I recently had a patient who had an eating disorder. Patient was binging and purging daily. Outpatient services had not worked. Day treatment services had not helped. Some of her bloodwork was off, especially her electrolytes. You HAD coverage in her policy for inpatient services, which both I and two physicians who were treating her recommended. The insurance company "decided" that it wasn't medically necessary, this without ever seeing the patient and with receiving all the labs and reports from all providers. I wish that was an isolated case, but I've seen stuff like that plenty of times.
    Thanks for sharing that CC.

Huh? We're talking about one specific lie in the last 15 pages or so. But there are plenty of others.

How about when he said Fast and Furious began under Bush (it didn't)?
How about his lie about how many jobs the Keystone pipeline would create when in fact he had evidence to the contrary?
    How about closing Gitmo?
How about his promise not to have lobbyists in his administration (by 2010 he had at least 40)?
How about when he said he had Congress' support to carry out intervention in Libya (remember when Dennis Kucinich busted him on that)?

There's just a very small sampling.

You know, one does not use health insurance until you need it. How horrible it must be to learn that you are not covered when you need it the most, even though you may have paid your premiums faithfully all along. No one asks to get brain cancer, heart attack, stroke, or diabetes or any other potential killer, yet people do suffer from them even when they try to live a healthy lifestyle. And what happens to the Hippocratic Oath? Does it no longer apply now that it will be out of the doctor's hands?

I recently discovered that I have become gluten intolerant. Okay, I can eliminate gluten from my diet...maybe. Since I have now learned that there are thousands of foods that contain gluten, it hasn't been easy, and since I grew up eating strudels and other scrumptious goodies, and since I enjoy baking, it's been a real test to adhere to the celiac guidelines. "I'm doing it for my health" has become my mantra, but I sure do miss those foods! *if they ever tell me fudge is bad, .....*

    Greetings, Captain Courtesy.

    Good evening NIMBY

I just wanted to point out in passing that just because 90 members of someone's staff or administration are honest and trustworthy, that doesn't mean the person they work for is equally honest and trustworthy. I could also give you several examples of where members of the Obama administration have leaked details about clandestine operations either before or after the fact. Would that make Obama any less honest and trustworthy? The actions of others are their own and entirely irrelevant to the character of the man at issue here.

It's been out of the doctor's hands for quite some time. This is what healthcare insurers in the US have been doing for years. Doesn't always affect things, but sometimes it does. I had it happen to me several years ago when being treated for acid reflux... before there were many OTC medications on the market. I was on one medication which was working great. The insurance company refused to continue to cover it, even though my doctor insisted that it was the best choice. They decided that I should be on an OTC... something that they would not have to pay for.

I recently discovered that I have become gluten intolerant. Okay, I can eliminate gluten from my diet...maybe. Greetings, Captain Courtesy.
I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 2 years ago, so I have not had any gluten in all that time. I feel your pain... but it's actually not that bad. I've found lots of substitutes.
