Al Qaeda Militants Capture US-Made Black Hawk Helicopters In Iraq

Hopefully, they'll try to fly them.

I suppose the question is how much longer can the democratically government of Iraq that we nation built last?

I seen something similar before. I was in Vietnam during the Eastertide Offensive of 1972 and watched the South Vietnamese units that still had American advisors fight like heck and eventually drive the North Vietnamese back. Then with JUSMAGTHAI in Bangkok I watched these same units that had fought so good, An Loc being a prime example basically do what the Iraqi’s did, throw down their weapon and run like heck. Because of this I wonder if we still had an adviser with the Iraqi’s in Mosel, what would have happened. Now it isn't a matter of training, when I left Vietnam in March of 1973, those units were well trained. I am sure when we pulled out of Iraq a couple of years ago, the same was true.

So what makes the same troops fight like heck when our adviser is with them and not without them? Moral perhaps, I don’t know. I do hope this is where the similarities end, but I am fearful that is not the case.

Give control in America to liberals...and this is what you get.

No surprise here.

I bet Maliki is regretting the hell out of demanding we get out of Iraq.

Since Obama has no idea what to do in regards to the ME, he should do the only smart thing he CAN do: DIP all American-made equipment he can get access to, evacuate all US Military and any American civilians who want to go from the region, and tell everyone in the ME that they are on their own.

Maybe they don't feel their leadership and lifestyle options are worth defending. We left a shiitehole in Iraq, but the OIL is in the Centralized Distribution Network and moving around priced in USDollars. Yesireee, a complete success for Exxon/Mobil and the Corporate Oligarchy especially the MIC. Ain't this freedom and liberty stuff a little hard to get a grip on when it is CORPORATIZED? Very profitable, however. Not for USA taxpayers, but the Corporate Oligarchy. Golly gee, and they're just getting started in Ukraine. Except for a lot of dead non-combatants, women, children, Grandma and the dog, it's just gonna be a veritable cornucopia of largesse for the status quo of Western Oligarchy. Screw a bunch of freedom and liberty, there's large bucks to be made. Let's see, that would be CAPITALISM, no CORPORATISM, no, business as usual when your MILITARY OFFENSE budget is greater than all the rest of the World's military budgets combined. I must be cornfused, this doesn't sound too good for the Sound Byte Society of "they hate us for our freedoms," or other pearls of insanity getting worked up in our collective oyster mainstream media. The USA specialty is WAR. I will repeat what a Vietnamese lady friend told me in 1966, "How do you help the Vietnamese by bringing war and death to our Country?" Just keep changing the name of the Country and keep repeating the question. However the WARS are very profitable, but not for John Doe or Maury Two-Fingers. Nevertheless the financiers (BANKSTERS), Arms Manufactureres (MIC), and Energy distributors (PETRO-GAS-etc.) are doing very well and most of the USA is too fat anyway, so a little leaning is a good thing, eh?

If they have pilots amongst them then yes they will, military birds are designed to be easy to fly so that the pilot workload under combat is minimized. The real question is do they have fuel and maintenance guys to take care of the birds. If they do then the birds are worth more than a couple of flights.

They don't have pilots. Why would they?

You don't think that amongst all those Johnny Jihadies there aint one pilot? Its possible there isn't one I suppose. Personally, I think that Al Qaeda or Iran some other wack jobs will send some pilots over if there really isn't one amongst the Jihadies.

Why would there be? You think Iran sends pilots to set up IEDs and ambush villagers?

Oh noes, gasoline $7.00 a gallon?

My question is should we, the USA go back there and re-destabilize Iraq?

No but considering the rate and pace that territory and equipment is being lost to the Jihadies it would make sense to have one available in the area in case an opportunity arose. You seem to think that Johnny Jihad is a bunch of amateurs and its amateur hour. I have dealt these types of bastards personally before and it is stupid to underestimate them. I hate their guts and would kill every one of them and their kin if given the chance, that said I have a very healthy respect for them would NEVER take chances with them. If they acquired helicopters then the Iranians or whoever else might just send pilots to use them if only for a one or two missions. Helicopters would make a very powerful and flexible VBED. Not to mention just as a support gunship if they mount heavy guns in the doors. I would not be surprised in the least if they are using them as we write.

Opportunity for what, flying a helicopter into a nearby building?

The first time one of those birds lift, it'll be blown out of the sky.

The leadership and lifestyle may have something to do with it. The freedom and liberty stuff which is so important to us, may not be to them. The Vietnamese liked their mandarin style of government they had for a thousand years, then during the war we made them change to democracy. Democracy wasn't at all important to them. Most at least towards the end of the war just wanted it over, they really didn't care what form of government they would have.

I don’t know this for sure, but the same thing may apply to Iraq. They may want a government based upon their religion and not democracy. We seem to think since democracy is great for us, it will be great for every other country, culture, in the world. That is not so. Hating us for our freedom, not really, a lot of countries think our society is decadent, perhaps because of too much freedom. But we do have a nasty habit of trying to push our values on other countries, some of which want nothing to do with our values or form of government.

Whos going to shoot it down? The Iraqi army doesn't seem to be doing anything but dropping their arms and heading for the hills.

George Washington was right we really need to be more like Switzerland when it comes to foreign policy.
