Lockheed to deliver first of 36 F-16s to Iraq this week

Wonder how long it will be before sense those aircraft flying against the U.S.

Those that don't know their history are doomed to repeat it. The U.S. Hasn't learned not to arm people we might be in conflict with tomorrow.

The F16 is actually a good fighter to sell them, one of the few things we manufacture.
A good fighter with limited range.

I don't think anyone should be selling those crazy-ass crackpots anything more advanced than an F-104 or F-4.

We should sell them lots more stuff. Hell we should sell F-16s to the Iranians. And anybody else who wants them. The enemy of my enemy is my customer.

And if Iraq cuts us off, who they going to get parts for them  The Iranians have that problem with the F-14s we sold them, and it is the main reason the US Navy destroyed the planes when they were retired.

Amongst other reasons. The best market to corner is the defense market. If you are the go to market for weapons, its very unlikely that someone would mess with you in the first place as they have a first hand account of how good your stuff is.

Yep. We sell Iraq these F-16s to keep them from buying MiGs which Russia would have no issue with. I am not concerned about 36 F-16s. Iran can barely keep a few of it's F-14s flying and that is using Russian engines and Russian avionics/weapons systems. I would see the same happening to Iraq. Now could China get their hands on one and reverse engineer parts.... maybe. the old Soviet Union got an F-14 from Iran some claim back in the 1980s.

Hell if the Chinese and Russians want to buy F-16's by the lot we should sell them. We should sell them the F-22 and the F-35 while we are at it. We should sell C-130's M-1 Tanks AH-64 Helicopters, practically anything and everything. The more we sell the merrier. We should be actively trying to corner the defense market very much like DeBeers corners the diamond market. If you want something that goes boom, you get it from us. Not the Chinese or the Russians or the Europeans. Us.

I hope they paid for them. I would feel bad if the U.S. gave them to them.

Hopefully we charged confiscatory prices for superior product.

Does anybody think this is still going to happen considering what is happening there right now?

Umm, that's what we are doing by selling them to Iraq. Yikes this is a stupid move.

Nah its not a bad move, its a great move. I think we should sell some F-16's to ISIS or whatever it is they are calling themselves, especially since they..... ahem.... liberated...... 450 or so million dollars from the bank of Mosul. After all they should have a fair fight. We should do our best to repatriate that loot by providing first class armaments to all parties of this conflict. Its a win win for us. We get their money, and they get dead without us pulling the trigger. Its a great scenario. We should have done this a long time ago when Sadam was in power. Sell to him and the Kurds and the Shia and the Sunnis. Fleece em all I say.

Yeah, who the hell ever heard of Bin Laden before 9/11/01?

Let's not sell 'em anything, they'll eventually run out of munitions and go back to rocks and sticks for weapons.

People like Bin Laden make enemies. If you don't like someone arm their enemies, and well. Like I said we should sell to everyone who has 2 pennies to rub together quality armaments at confiscatory rates. If all they can afford are rocks then we sell them rocks, good "ballistic" quality rocks. We want somebody to win for some reason, we give them a bigger discount than the other guy whom we will also be supplying. If people want to kill themselves, let them, and be helpful by providing the quality arms at confiscatory prices. They are doing humanities gene pool a favor, especially if they fail to procreate beforehand. We should not get in their way, but instead help them. We want to be helpful that's our nature, you know.... to help people.
