Reports: Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer wins bidding for Clippers with NBA-record

Re: Seattle clippers

The Sounders average almost 4th per home and and sometimes sell the Clink out. I'd say someone is watching.

They have a fan base, that's good. But MLS is still almost unheard of, in this country, let alone the world where it's virtually non-existent. Are the Mariners really a poorly run team?

Yes, the Mariners are a very poorly run team. From atrocious trades (Anybody remember Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek for Heathcliffe Slocum? Or how about Adam Jones and Chris Tillman to the Orioles for Eric Bedard? Or Choo and Cabrera to the Indians for nothing?), to the failure to spend money when money is available, to spending 240 million dollars on Robinson Cano and giving him no protection in the lineup, to having one season over .500 in the last ten years. I could go on, but there are many questions one could ask about the Seattle Mariners. Whether they have been poorly managed isn't one of them. We've only had a half a dozen seasons over .500 since 1977.

As for the Sounders, they are doing just fine. And so, by the way, is the MLS. From nearly going out of business a few years ago, they just signed an extremely lucrative television contract that is truly remarkable for where the sport is at.

No, it isn't on par with the big three, but it's doing just fine.

They've had a pretty rotten run of GMs lately.

Which were appointed by the owners.
