I commented to your Op...I dont read through the entire thread before I comment. My post holds true for ever post you make.

Maybe you should have waited to make a thread before you had all the facts...no we wouldn't do that.

Yeah, he was working on his United States of Africa.....which the Saud, Sunni and MB didn't like to much. Hence his removal.

Not even a year after they kill Stevens.....they raid a SECRET Military Compound outside of Tripoli. Not Benghazi this time and almost a year after the 911 Anniversary. The NY Times reported it.....but there sure wasn't a lot of news on it, that I can recall.

Do you think the FBI will still be able to conduct their investigation in Libya now?

Whatever.....no need to explain any limitations you have with reading. Considering it was still in Chronological order and still could be seen coming into the thread.

Maybe that article just came thru the Wire.....But no.....I doubt that mind of yours could even grasp such a thought, huh.

Sure. They'll continue with the same effort they've expended up to this point. (BTW, the US has been conducting clandestine operations in Africa for decades. Back then, we usually kept secret operations secret. Today, not so much).

Heya HB .....yeah that's from the article on our SF training their troops.

But how did you like the uncovering of that base in Tripoli and it getting hit? I sure don't recall all our Top people talking about this attack back then. Nor even BO up and stuttering about how he found something else out thru the Media. Especially considering with what took place in Benghazi.

Seems this base wasn't so secret neither.....huh?

Now we are issuing a warning and telling Americans to leave immediately.....do we always just up and warn ALL civilian Americans to leave Immediately?

UPDATE: Ansar Al Sharia Warns the US and Tells the US to stay out of Libya or face Worse than what we did in Iraq. So now Ansar al Sharia continues to threaten us. While someone went after the New Libyan Prime Minister today.

Libyan Islamists to U.S.: Don't interfere or face worse than Iraq......

The leader of Islamist militant group Ansar al-Sharia in Libya's Benghazi city warned the United States on Tuesday against interference or it would face worse than the conflicts in Somalia, Iraq, or Afghanistan

Libya's young democracy is in turmoil three years after the NATO-backed war that ousted Muammar Gaddafi, with rival Islamist, anti-Islamist, regional and political factions locked in a complex struggle for influence in the OPEC member state.

Mohamed Zahawi, head of the Benghazi brigade of Ansar al-Sharia, accused the U.S. government of backing renegade former general Khalifa Haftar, who has begun a self-declared campaign to purge Libya of Islamist militants.

"We remind America, if they intervene, of their defeats in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia, because they would face in Libya something much worse," he said in a statement. "It was America who urged Haftar to turn the country towards war and bloodshed."

A former general under Gaddafi, Haftar earlier this month launched attacks with his irregular forces on Islamist militant bases in Benghazi because he said the government had failed.

Ansar al-Sharia also runs a network of social services in the city and has operated its own checkpoints.

The U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the United States opposed political violence by all sides in Libya. "Our position is clear - political violence will not solve Libya's political problems. We call upon all parties in Libya to work constructively and productively toward finding solutions to the current crisis.".....snip~

    Is our position clear? Really?

I expect that what we hear is just the tip of the iceberg. In my experience, it's best not to play footsie in Africa. Either do something, or don't do it. This administration seems intent on doing half of what's required there, and then blaming others for failure or simply not reporting the fiasco. If the mission is important enough to require personnel on the ground, civilian and otherwise, then it's important enough to offer a presence significant enough to thwart any threat. If not, then it's better to stay out entirely and let the locals sort it out or shoot it out without our people caught in the middle.

I agree.....Didn't take long for Ansar al Sharia to threaten us. So I doubt they are to worried. Plus now they have some of our tech for Night fighting.

Given this administration's track record there in protecting people and material, I highly recommend everybody get out. Everybody. When it gets hot, and it will, we can see that in spite of our assets in the region, the likelihood they'd actually be deployed in Libya is about nil. I'm not anxious for such a deployment anyway, so we might as well call it what it is, and get out. The new "on the cheap" idea isn't working out so well for the people on the firing line, and those are the people I'm most concerned about. How this administration cares to spin its next fiasco is a secondary concern.

I agree. Especially since Obama is currently "revamping" his foreign affairs policies which is really unclear what this is going to look like for the next two years. Without clear leadership for the sake of Americans, it's time to get them the heck out of Libya and anywhere else in present danger. If he isn't serious about fighting terrorism, there's no need to leave our people in places where they are sitting ducks.
