Sure, if you can't trust the government to do what is right for us, who can you trust? No need to worry about them spying on us, of course not.

Debate with you is pointless, because you bring nothing substantial to the table. You always move the goalposts to debate something other than the topic at hand.

I'm not trusting anyone. I'm just not stupid enough to believe a conspiracy theory like "the NSA spies on whomever they want just because they can".

But, not Obama! Notice how Obama's name is never mentioned?

Let's wait and see whose names are on the list.

    Or...

Let's claim the NSA spies on whomever they want just because they can and thousands, no, tens of thousands of people are complacent in the conspiracy.

Oh, wait, I'm not a moron... so I can't do that.

Do you remember the Mail incident during Andrew Jackson's administration? You see, abolitionist mail was going through the post office and was found in South Carolina. South Carolinians, intent on keeping the slavery regime, felt that this literature was encouraging rebellion and so forth. South Carolinians had a few options to deal with this controversy. Upon asking for his advice, Andrew Jackson offered his own solution. His solution was that you distribute the mail, but you put the names of those who received abolitionist literature in the newspapers. The individuals would then have to claim the mail. Of course, that solution was perhaps a reasonable one for the Post Office in South Carolina, because it ostracized those who happened to have been in the mailing lists of northern abolitionists and everyone knew who was the Judas and could be treated more harshly. Jackson's solution didn't come to fruition, because a mob formed and burned the offending mail.

The consequences of putting the names of those who were spied upon by the NSA should not be taken lightly.

To me this is just the cherry on the attention whoring cake that is the Snowden scandal.

    For example:
Greenwald, who is promoting his book No Place To Hide and is trailed by a documentary crew wherever he goes, was speaking in a boutique hotel near Harvard, where he was to appear with Noam Chomsky, the octogenarian leftist academic.
He is eating up his 15+ minutes with a spoon and savoring every bite at the limelight.

If he wasn't a self-aggrandizing blowhard, I might have actually cared more about this, but when a journalist makes himself a big part of the story, I just can't muster the outrage. The circus that has been made of this since day one has completely detracted from what should have been a serious discussion in this country. One I cared about not too long ago. Snowden and Greenwald deserve each other and whatever the fallout that comes of this crapfest and the blame for what doesn't change that should have. I used to have a bit of respect for Greenwald. He could be counted on to make everyone uncomfortable with his well asked questions. He's transformed into a preening jerk. Bah.

Ok, let me have it (better phrasing).

I don't attack my constituents. Bob is my constituent now.
This is the important stuff. We canít get lost in discrimination. We canít get lost in B.S. We canít get lost tearing each other down. I want to make a point here that no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, who you love, how you identify, and yeah, how you run, that if you have good public policy ideas, if you are well qualified for office, bring those ideas to the table, because this is your America, too. This is our commonwealth of Virginia, too.

No, it should not be taken lightly, particularly is some people believe that it is the spied upon, not the violators of the Constitution of the united States, who should be under suspicion.
