don't be a teacher.
Too late.
otherwise you will have parents in your office about you letting kids pee in their pants.
Can't say I've seen that.

Are you calling BS because I never witnessed anyone peeing their pants in school??
MaggieD said:There's something wrong with you...or maybe something wrong with the school you went to.
I doubt that. I'm sure that is exactly why the teacher came up with this system.
Yes.
That is a possibility. Maybe that is the reason that I am so shocked that nobody has ever heard of a kid peeing their pants. I have heard of it happening a lot.
No, emergency means the 7 year old could be physically harmed by holding in his urine. There are many risks involved.
I like that, Vasude -- acknowledging the possibility that your experience wasn't the norm. (Maybe mine wasn't...?) But my experience is the way to the light.
the student wanted popcorn and chose not to spend her available fake currency on a bathroom passno child was ever denied the opportunity to use the bathroom
Like what?
Keep your child at home. There are home schooling options. If the school isn't good enough for your precious genius that never tries to scam the teacher, then don't waste the teachers time.
You are being completely irrational and selfish. I think parents who criticize teachers for trivial things should be hung up by their arms and horsewhipped in front of all the other parents. Stop dumbing down our children with your lack of respect for education. Go teach your kid to climb a tree or something.
If you want dumb kids, that's fine but the whole nation doesn't have to be dumb. That isn't fair to anybody.
Is there some indication that these kids used the bathroom excessively?
"Hold your wee for a Wii" came to mind.
Good marketing slogan.
Classy post. Dumb kids? I thought this was about peeing, not kids' brains?
It's about letting kids do whatever they want to do versus forcing them to learn. Just ask any kid. School sucks. It is supposed to suck. It is a place to challenge your brain to exercise new skills that you will be unable to do unless you practice constantly. Some parents don't appreciate what school is designed to do and it really pisses me off. They would rather make a mockery out of our teachers by whining about pee breaks.
If we are going to have a public school system then it should be a good one. We shouldn't be required to accomodate the lowest common denominator. F*** those parents that disrespect the schools, disrespect our teachers, disrespect the concept of education and disrespect the future of our country.
Schools should be allowed to ignore these retards instead of dumbing down the education process just to make a few irrational emotional basket cases rule the school.
Very dramatic.
They don't dole out pee breaks in my kids' schools sparingly or for Monopoly money so I don't have a problem with my kids' schools or their teachers.

don't you think this is a bit overly dramatic?
Most sensible people respect the teachers. You sound sensible. Why are you advocating for the torture, death and burial of this teacher that you know absolutely nothing about? Only the student, the teacher and the other students have all the details of this situation. We know nothing except the bias of the writer who published this story. It's not quite fair to put someone on trial for doing their job. Have you ever made a mistake at your job? If so, do you think you deserve to be punished severely just to appease some idiot who complained about your mistake?
Shouldn't the criteria for discipline be based upon something more than providing the desired level of entertainment simply for the onlookers? Shouldn't justice be considered as a valid goal as well? Entertainment shouldn't be the only reason that we punish people.
I don't remember advocating for the torture of this teacher. When did I do that?
I make plenty of mistakes at my job. I don't ever recall making a mistake that involved forbidding one of my employees from using the bathroom.
My kids love school and tend to do well, but they have made mistakes and broken rules at odd times as most kids have. When any of their schools call me to say one of them did something wrong, I believe the schools. Kids need to be punished when they do something wrong. They don't need to be punished for having to go to the bathroom. JMO.

PS - we had a kid pee his pants in my 1st grade class. Just one.
This is stupid. Can the student go 25 times a day in order to get out of doing their school work? This is a complex issue that hasn't been resolved since the invention of mass education. We are still trying to master this problem. No magic solution has been found yet. That is why this teacher shouldn't be criticized. She tried. It didn't work. Some teachers have not tried and just gave up on classroom order. Just give everybody an A and let them do whatever they want to do. F*** teaching the kids. Teachers will just be criticized by overbearing parents that take priority in their child's comfort over their education. Why should they even try? Just give everybody an A and receive no criticism at all. That is the smartest option for a teacher and many of them have taken that route. Not the teacher in the OP and I applaud her for that.
School is not supposed to be comfortable. You are learning new concepts that requires effort to master. School is uncomforable. If being comfortable is priority we should allow parents to choose an alternative such as babysitting services versus education.
If that were the case; these little girls would have been enrolled in the babysitting service and could pee as much as they wanted. They could go to the bathroom any time to avoid the uncomfortable situation of working at their studies.
