I think this is all really common sense. Our conception of the universe is only minute to what really exists out there. I think its only a matter of time until we find life out there. We have found a lot of evidence of life, but to my knowledge we havent found "actual life". I do believe that there are other intelligent beings out there. But hey, I think we still should continue funding to these programs.

They have found ZERO evidence there is life off this planet, mars has produced nothing.

Man they are working so hard to find life out there just so they can prove there is no God, but the darn evidence just seems to elude them.

We don't need warp drive to travel within the solar system and it is highly feasible life could be on Mars Jupiter or Europa.

i truly doubt that we've ever been visited, and i doubt that we will be any time soon. however, the chance that a visit will be beneficial to us is lower than the chance that it could be bad or catastrophic, so i think we should stop advertising to them.
It would be astonishing if a civilization that had reached the level of technological sophistication required to travel between the stars required anything we have on Earth. All of the potential raw materials they might desire are present in staggering quantities in the cosmos. I doubt if they came to Earth it would be for something as primitive as pillage.

this is a valid point. however, i look at it from the frame of reference of Europeans discovering the new world. they had plenty of resources there, and the technology to find and colonize other parts of the globe. granted, it's not entirely analogous. however, on our planet, when a new species is introduced into an ecosystem, there are often consequences for the species living there currently.

Which raises the issue of how they gain that knowledge. Is it strictly observational or is it "hands-on?"

While I believe that there are aliens, I don't profess to know what they're like or what their motivations are for visiting this planet. As I previously said elsewhere on this board: they could be our friends or our enemies. They could be similar to us emotionally or like this:

We've announced our presence since early in the last century. Presumably, 'life out there' can broadcast their football games, too.

Actually, thanks to the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics the existence of a creator cannot be disproven.

The first law states that Energy can be niether created or destroyed.

The second law of thermodynamics states in any closed system a process proceeds in a direction that the unavailable entropy increases.

From order to disorder while energy changes or the Universe cools or experiences what's called "Heat death".

So if the Universe is a closed system there was a beginning, The Big Bang and there will be an end.

Our Universe with everything it including energy started from literally nothing, which violates the First law of thermodynamics.

Energy cannot be created, but out of nothing an event started that led to the creation of a exponential amount of energy.

And a beginning WITH creation points to a creator more than it does a random event.

Atheist really try to justify their beliefs with a poor understanding of scientific principles.

When it comes down to it they rely on Faith to make the claim that there is no God while they critique those who have Faith in a Creator.

I have mixed feelings about SETI.

Its clear they want funding, but I don't see how their work could lead to anything practical.

Whats the pay off for detecting a intelligence many many Light years away ?

Communication ?

Ok, if we DID detect a signal created by a intelligent life force and then somehow decoded it so we could then communicate whats the pount if that signal originated 4 million Light years away ?
