If they are intelligently created signals their source might be long gone by now.

How many millions of light years away are their source ?

Please, tell us of your vast knowledge of aliens.
You have no more knowlege of aliens than I do.

And yes...lets DO look at the last 100 years.....Take the following list and count how many wars the US has been in since 1914...and be sure to note that this is JUST the US. This does not count all the other countries in the world.....

List of wars involving the United States

Not very peaceful are we? So even if we do use ONE example (which again, no true scientist would) its not holding up your belief very well.

Oh, please. Look at the development of human, civil, labor and environmental rights over the past 100 years.

Most of those wars serve those rights, as democracy observes them while tyranny does not. Trying to paint the liberation of the world as something bad is absurd.

That liberation, and the recognition of our rights, is what makes it obvious further development will result in much of the same, and not a reversion to barbarism.

The trajectory is clear - towards recognizing rights. There is no reason to believe that will change.

Not all of them wars have been about liberation. Oh sure, they might TELL you that they are about liberation. But how many wars are going on right now that the US doesn't care about because oil or some other resource isn't involved?

And most resulted in liberation. Funny, Japan isn't a colony of the US, is it?

    Enough with the conspiracy crap.

I'm sorry...where did I say that the US has tried to conquer and take over countries? Oh that's right, I haven't.

Lets assume for a moment that these signals are of alien intelligence. The questions are would the source be friendly or hostile? My logic seems to indicate friendly and or hostile, with no quantifiable way to prefer one truth over the other. if hostile, then the intent by the alien would be to lure other, less intelligent, and sophisticated civilizations to them, perhaps sending a reply. This assumes that this alien race is so advanced that they have no fear of who replies, or of making their presence known. On the other hand, they could also be so advanced and sophisticated that they would also not fear any response. They could merely be looking to make friends. In short, their intelligence, and level of sophistication are not good indicators of their intent.

Yes, we have. And no, we can't defeat an alien invasion by uploading the latest version of Microsoft Windows to their mother ship, so don't ask.
