More NSA Secrets Revealed

Not a bit.

Libertarians are consistent in their principles and the least hypocritical of people.

Doesnt look like it here. "Hey dont spy on us, spy on other innocent people". Pretty hypocritical. Most "libertarians" are "libertarian" where they see fit.

I fully expect other countries to try and spy on us, and I fully expect my country to try and spy on them. The only thing we did wrong was get caught imho

I'm not upset if we spy on other countries. I get upset when we spy on ourselves.

So in the eyes of our government we want to know what everyone on this planet is doing? So much for "privacy". I guess we are all expected terrorists in this world now.

Ummm...yeah. Every government wants that. Every person wants that, are you new or something? It seems like exceedingly simple concepts, like "governments want information in order to make decisions" is incredibly groundbreaking to you.

What is it that you thought intelligence agencies did?

Yes that is the purpose of government to serve as a security apparatus for people. Which means they have to spy on others but never on the people it serves. Consistently libertarian in principle and philosophy.

Is it about what the government wants or is it about what the people want? Afterall i thought it was government by the people and for the people, not the "we can do whatever the **** we want"

It justifies us spying in them.

Even tho its just innocent civilians that have nothing to do with anything. Even if it makes us be the global big brother!? 1984 wasnt supposed to be a playbook for global security!

Sure. Just imagine if we'd collected information on Lenin, or Hitler, or Ho Chi Minh.

:lamo Imagine if we found aliens on mars! Imagine if none of them didnt exist. But hey, bud, we did collect data on all of them......... But lets not act like we would of done anything...

Do you assume you speak for all of the people? Moreover, do you think the tyranny of the majority is a bad or good thing?

How can you possibly justify spying on all Americans and innocent people around the world? For what purpose does this serve? When does it cross the line of being "safe" to being a tyrannical practice?

We did? Before they took power and murdered hundreds of millions of people?

To have information. Grow up.

Are you saying that intelligence agencies shouldn't exist lol

We did? Before they took power and murdered hundreds of millions of people?

Remember when we invaded Russia after the Bolsheviks took power? Please tell me we didnt collect informatino on Lenin?
Remember when we entail within the Nazi party?
Please dont act so ignorant.

Whats the point of having information on millions upon millions of europeans?

To understand trends, policies, beliefs, etc.

Those are important to understand. Do you disagree?

Nope not at all what im saying.

What do you think intelligence agencies should do?

Understand what "trends"? What "policies"? What "beliefs"? Is something going to become so extreme that we sholud be worried? Is Hollande gonna start the next Bolshevik revolution? Is little Annika in Germany gonna start the RAF up again?

What do you think intelligence agencies should do?
Protect our nation from legitimate threats with a legitimate reason (for any nation be that the US or any nation in the EU or any nation worldwide). What success have they had with this program, oh yea NOTHING
Report suggests NSA surveillance has not stopped terrorism | Al Jazeera America NSA phone record collection does little to prevent terrorist attacks, group says - The Washington Post

Understand what "trends"?

Any.

What "policies"?

Any.

What "beliefs"?

Any.

Is something going to become so extreme that we sholud be worried?

Maybe, but probably not. Do you think intelligence should only be gathered about extremist beliefs?

Is Hollande gonna start the next Bolshevik revolution? Is little Annika in Germany gonna start the RAF up again?

Probably not. Does that mean other nations shouldn't try to know what they're doing?

...no. This is just horrible critical thinking.

Just so you know, the US doesn't really need to collect data. It's usually just bought from the sites you willingly give it to without reading their TOS. What? You think FB makes money on gifts or your Pinterest account is not being cataloged, packaged and sold to anyone who will buy it? Pay better attention to the ads that show up on your page from now on.

Any.

Any.

Any.
So we should be Big Brother? Is this correct?

Maybe, but probably not. Do you think intelligence should only be gathered about extremist beliefs?
So we should study everyone "just in case"?

Probably not. Does that mean other nations shouldn't try to know what they're doing?
Absolutely. Diplomatic immunity and a little thing we hold dear called privacy...

...no. This is just horrible critical thinking.
So..... What attack did it prevent?

So we should be Big Brother? Is this correct?

Yes. Is Big Brother the dog whistle for you to mean "bad"?

Yes.

Absolutely. Diplomatic immunity and a little thing we hold dear called privacy...

lol what? Diplomatic immunity covers every citizen of every country now? And, let me guess, the 4th Amendment covers every US citizen? Who should intelligence agencies collect on?

So..... What attack did it prevent?

Times Square?
