Texas high school suspends student — for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance

Re: Texas high school suspends student — for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegia

I doubt your teachers "disliked you". They probably weren't thrilled with your behavior, but may have understood it's source and thus gave you a break. There were most likely a lot of your teachers that gave you breaks that obviously remain invisible to you to this day.

You may imagine what you like, but since I lived my life and have intimate knowledge of it, your imagination doesn't sway or hold water.

More Texas nuttery and fanaticism. It's like it's starting to grow on trees. Unbelievable. And I'm a native Texas watching my state go bat**** with all sort of wacknut idiocracies.

If I promise my loyalty or commitment to the country how am I not pledging allegiance to the government?

Easy. Your loyalty and commitment to the country may lead you to oppose the government of the moment.:peace

This presumes that an allegiance or oath stays in place from one government to the next.

Of course, and that's the point. The pledge is to the flag "and to the republic for which it stands." It stands above and apart from the government of the moment. Opposition to any particular administration or government policy is therefore no reason to decline the pledge.:peace

The Nazis made the trains run on time, developed rocket and jet technology and nearly eradicated unemployment. Does that make National Socialism a good thing?

No, the context of the post you quoted means this is a better question to ask:

Does that make jet technology a bad thing?

Sorry to say that as corrupt as the courts are today, that MAY fly in court. :

I agree that it might sneak by at the lower levels, but when it moves up the chain it will get shot down.

It was an A B conversation.

I'll take hyperbole for 1000 Alex...

He's been going all-in on the Third Reich analogies lately.

He's always been like that, there's nothing he can't compare to Nazis.

Germans can't make pizza. Only Italian fascists can.

Re: Texas high school suspends student — for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegia

My German mother in law actually makes very excellent pizza.

I only know them to make a certain kind of protestant soup and bread. It's good, but they are very stern.
