Michael Jordan: I was against all white people

Right, I read what he said. Paula Deen admitted that she used the N word over 3 decades ago,

Actually, Paula Deen went down for mistreatment of an employee... as well as one of her relatives watching porn at work... as well as racism. Let's not get caught up on the details though.

No, Paula Deen was smeared and lost her career because she admitted that she used the N word over 30 years ago.

Maggie, if a white kid grew up in Harlem or Compton, or name your black neighborhood, and they were picked on and beaten up by black people as a teenager, then they went on to become very famous and they admitted that they hated ALL black people as a teenager, would it be blown over and attributed to their upbringing, or would their name be smeared and them labeled a racist?

I'm not at all sure. I don't think it's a slam-dunk, that's for sure. It would depend upon his actions NOW.

You haven't posted any examples of a white person being attacked for admitting that they were racist as a child

Your example was a white person who was racist as an adult

So what? Can adults not change in over 30 years?

I have no idea what point you're trying to make here

Paula Deen allegedly employs a racist as a restaurant manager. The NBA allows two racists to own teams, Donald Sterling and Michael Jordan. Does that make the entire NBA racist?

It's not a point, it's a question.

My understanding is that the NBA can't force the sale of the teams, and AFAIK Jordan isn't a racist.

Deen could have fired her racist mgr

The events occurred two years ago, not 30

No they did not. That is a lie. Deen said that she used the N word over 30 years ago, and she lost her job and was smeared because of it.

That's pretty prickly. I had a very similar experience with Dr. J.

Now, I ran into Dennis Rodman back in the day at Crobar, had a beer with him and a short conversation... He's alright..

Almost got into a fight with John Salley in the cigar bar of Drink! tall bastard needed to watch where he was walking...

Frank Thomas, he's another prick, Ryan Sandburg HUGE prick..comes into my bar (in Wrigleyville, not mine mine, just one I was managing) give him and his 3 guests a round on the house, ask him if he'd mind signing an autograph on this collectable we were gonna auction off for a benefit for CARC (Chicago Association for Retarded Citizens) and he looks at me like I just smacked his wife in the face.... "No.." and turns back to his group without so much as another word... they finished their drink got up and left... A real gem...

The racist acts of the manager happened two years ago.

And she wasn't fired from any job

Ok, to be fair, the NBA didn't know that Jordan is a racist when they allowed him to buy a team, but they did know that Donald Sterling is a racist when he bought the Clippers. Does that make the entire NBA racist?

No one said 'called someone' that word. Have you ever USED that word?

i can't recall using it but then I can't be held accountable for having read Huck Finn outloud as a kid, I might have. But using the word is interesting. There is a huge difference between Snoop Dog, Mark Twain, and Paula Deen in how it was used. If you can't see that then you should take a good English class.

I believe that the former commissioner was just as racist as Deen was for allowing that purchase and for not being anything about Sterling sooner

And Jordan *was* a racist, not *is* a racist

Ok, I agree. Now I wonder why the NBA isn't smeared in the news as a racist organization?

Well, I'm not all that up on organized sports, but even I remember the NBA being criticized on several occassions

Yeah... it wasn't that simple. Daniel Tosh hasn't lost his career. People don't lose their "careers" over words. They lose their careers when they can no longer find work. Paula Deen? Her restaurants are still thriving. She's still a multimillionaire making money on her diversified portfolios and army of accountants ensuring she's still making money. Did Chick-Fil-a stop making money? Nope. Their revenue is actually up this year. Paula Deen? She lost her ability to be on TV and attract black people. Her career? Still there.

But she did lose her job on the Food Network because her name was smeared and she was labeled a racist because she said the N word a long time ago, no?
