If this investigation is baseless and there is no "there, there", then I expect Gowdy wouldn't be receiving death threats.

Police investigate threats against Trey Gowdy
By LAUREN FRENCH | 5/6/14 3:59 PM EDT Updated: 5/6/14 4:24 PM EDT

The U.S. Capitol Police are investigating threatening emails against Rep. Trey Gowdy, the South Carolina Republican recently tapped to lead a special panel probing the Benghazi terrorist attacks.

The investigation comes after POLITICO reporters and journalists at other outlets received two emails on Tuesday warning that Gowdy would be harmed because of his role in investigating the 2012 attacks.
The Capitol Police would not comment on the scope of the investigation but Officer Shennell Antrobus confirmed that there is “an active, open investigation.”

while I detest these threats and I hope the people doing it go to prison your reasoning for it stupid on its face.

Hello, Mr. Gowdy? This is Barack...

I think you should rethink that statement.

Trey Gowdy is one of the brightest and most straight forward people that the GOP has in the House. He's a former prosecutor and knows how to get to the truth, without the circus. He's a great choice for this panel.

I love to watch him ask questions of those that are called to testify. Great guy. A patriot, in the true sense of the word.

He and the few like him are one of the reasons I haven't changed my party affiliation. If it weren't for people like Trey (who's district is contiguous to my Congressional district). I would have jumped ship from the GOP when the right wing loons tried to take control.

I heard about the death threats from my own Congressman. They're real. I don't think they have anything actually do with the investigation, other than some left wing loons making idiotic threats.

Any real threat of someone hurting or killing a person wouldn't be sent in writing in an email. It would just happen.

Whoever sent these, are toast. Can we spell N. S. A.???

I wonder why the threats were emailed to Politico and other journalists, instead of Gowdy.

Whoever sent them seems to want the threats to get media attention.

It makes no sense to me, I guess I have not watched enough TV movies.

deduction is common use of the human brain... has nothing to do with TV or MSNBC

After reading his bio....Gowdy actually seems......normal.

I may not agree with most of his voting record, but he is no dummy. I respect him for suggesting that the GOP don't campaign and fund raise using Benghazi because that would politicize the investigation before it even started. It's also crass to make money off four dead Americans. So what does the RNCC do.....they put out a fundraising email using Benghazi.

Benghazi is little more than a political sideshow. The only truth Gowdy is going to find in his investigations is the political hackery by his own colleagues. So it will be interesting to see if he has the guts to stand up to the goons in his party.

Well said Beaudreaux, and I agree with every word.

I'm a very big Gowdy fan, and think he's a rising star in the GOP.
